I know Hammer is planning on remaking CAPT KRONOS, but I'd love to see what Wright would do with this Gothic horror genre (as hinted by DON'T).

I went with Mel Brooks because he is hilarious. I can see Burt Reynolds if he parodied himself, like William Shatner did in Airplane 2.

Fuck, Shatner would work.

The Darkness seem the obvious choice for FLASH 2011.

I'll take Shatner. Meanwhile, I'm edging towards 1988 C. Thomas Howell in place of Anthony Michael Hall.

Star Trek
An Education
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
free style
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
yes Man

Both are my favirot movies that i have watched.

Having just watched the original for the first time, I want to propose that if there's ever a need to do it, call up Justin Lin to remake Blue Thunder with Aaron Eckhart in Roy Scheider's role and Ralph Fiennes as Malcolm McDowell's character. Get Bryan Cranston in Warren Oates' place and we're set. No idea who'd take the other roles.

Just imagine that helicopter gone amok on a Fast Five level of destruction.

The Wild Bunch (2011)

Liam Neeson (William Holden) ... Pike Bishop

Woody Harrelson (Ernest Borgnine)... Dutch Engstrom

Chris Cooper (Robert Ryan) ... Deke Thornton

Robert Duvall (Edmond O'Brien) ... Freddie Sykes

Sam Rockwell (Warren Oates) ... Lyle Gorch

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Ben Johnson) ... Tector Gorch

Freddy Rodríguez (Jaime Sánchez) ... Angel

cant really take anything from Nolans ! he was great !

Joss Whedon's Titanic

Jack Dawson - David Boreanaz

Rose DeWitt Bukater - Sarah Michelle Gellar

Caledon Hockley - James Marsters

Molly Brown - Emma Caulfied

Brock Lovett - Nathan Fillion

Spicer Lovejoy - Christian Kane

Victor Garber - Alexis Denisof

Captain Edward James Smith -  Anthony Stewart Head

Ruth Bukater - Charisma Carpenter

Lizzy Calvert - Alyson Hannigan

Bruce Ismay - Harry Groener

Dingos Ate My Baby as The Titanic band.

Yes, I know there isn't much of an age difference between Gellar and Carpenter, but Carpenter does play a great snob. Also Whedon will also write the screenplay and it will be filled with current pop culture references. Most people will find this movie incredibility annoying, but a few will think its brilliant!

Okay... Picture this.

In the Summer of 1983, Steven Spielberg puts his brand name on a film he sees as a companion piece to ET. And some young actors get their start.

With that context, I bring you...

Steven Spielberg Presents

SUPER 8

Directed by Joe Dante

THE KIDS

Joey - Aaron Eckhart

Alice - Naomi Watts

Charlie - Philip Seymour Hoffman

Cary - Matt Damon

Marty - Sam Rockwell

THE ADULTS

Jack Lamb - Peter Coyote

Colonel Nelec - Harrison Ford

Louis Dainard - Kurt Russell

Dr. Woodward - Robert Guillaume

Sheriff Pruitt - Peter Boyle

Oh... And Carl Weathers is Nelec's right hand man, Overmeyer.

The screenplay is credited to Melissa Matheson and Chris Columbus, from a story by Spielberg. But it goes without saying that John Sayles did an uncredited polish.

(Dante was pushing for Kevin McCarthy as Woodward and Dick Miller as Pruitt. But Spielberg pretty much cast the film himself. He did, however, allow Dante to put those actors in other smaller roles.)

Rescue Me Season 7 Episode 6

After creative differences with star Steve McQueen, Jim Thompson refuses to sell the rights to his novel; The Getaway. With director (Sam Peckinpah) and co-star (Ali McGraw) already set and pre-production underway,  the studio scrambles for a new script. They ultimately settle on the New Orleans set, Most Dangerous Game inspired, action thriller Hard Target from up and coming writer Walter Hill. Although a troubled production, which included many on set fights between McQueen and Peckinpah, the film proved to a commercial success and the comeback vehicle that both the star and director desperately needed.

Hard Target (1972)

Directed by Sam Peckinpah

Steve McQueen as Chance Boudreaux

Ali McGraw as "Nat" Binder

Jack Palance as Emil Fouchon

David Warner as Van Cleaf

Pam Grier as Carmine Mitchell

and Ernest Borgnine as Uncle Douvee

Another reason why time travel should exist. I can't even begin to fathom how insane the squib action would be under Peckinpah, thing would probably get an X rating.

Also, Borgnine is so perfect for Uncle Douvee it's not even funny.

Not wanting to step on HT's toes because he did a great job. But I had to do this...

In 1988, John Landis had two blockbuster comedies. The first was Coming To America and the other....

HORRIBLE BOSSES

Nick Hendricks - Steve Martin

Kurt Buckman - Dan Aykroyd

Dale Arbus - Rick Moranis

Dave Harken - Leslie Nielsen

Dr. Julia Harris - Jane Fonda

Bobby Pellitt - Michael Keaton

Motherfucker Jones - Eddie Murphy (obviously)

Kenny Sommerfeld - Griffin Dunne

Detective Hagan - Bill Duke

Also featuring...

Jack Pellitt - Forest J Ackerman

The Wetwork Man - Eric Clapton

Rhonda Harken - Amy Heckerling

Nice Bar Bartender - Sam Raimi

Dive Bar Bartender - Bo Diddley

Detective Samson - Richard Donner

Lou Sherman - Ray Harryhausen

(Originally intended as a kind of spiritual sequel to The Three Amigos. But Chevy Chase was already committed to Funny Farm and also trying to get that Invisible Man movie made with William Goldman and Ivan Reitman.  So, when that fell through, Aykroyd stepped in. Seeing as it wasn't going to be a real reunion anyway, they kept Steve Martin but cast Moranis in the Martin Short role.)

Blimey could you imagine McQueen with THAT mullet??

Some alternate reality out there; in 1973 instead of Enter The Dragon they got Kill Bill directed by Shintaro Katsu.

The Bride - Ali McGraw

Pai Mei - Lieh Lo

O-Ren Ishii - Nora Miao

Vernita Green - Vonetta McGee

Budd - Steve McQueen

Elle Driver - Helen Mirren

Sofia Fatale - Catherine Deneuve

Hattori Hanzo - Takashi Shimura

GoGo Yubari - Meiko Kaji

and Bill - Bruce Lee

SHAZAM!!

I quite enjoyed putting that together.

I wasn't huge on this movie or anything. But its essential corniness brought to mind that the same exact movie (with inferior production values) could have been made in the late 70s/early 80s. It basically had that feeling for me...

So, it is with that in mind that I bring you a forgotten Christmas release from 1981.

GREEN LANTERN

Hal Jordan/Green Lantern - Ted Danson

Carol Ferris - Barbra Hershey

Sinestro - Nicol Williamson

Hector Hammond - Art Garfunkel

Senator Hammond - Robert Stack

Abin Sur - Steven Berkoff

Tomar-Re - John Hurt

Kilowog - OJ Simpson

Carl Ferris - John Forsythe

Bob Banks - Jeff Goldblum

Parallax - Orson Welles

Directed by Richard Fleischer

Perhaps we'd actually think of this movie more fondly if it were some nostalgia piece from the 80s.

You had me at Nicol Williamson. Whenever Spawn is on tv, I can't stop watching it because he is in it.

Directed by Peter Jackson

Dr Peter Venkman -      Paul Rudd

Dr Egon Spengler -       Steve Carrell

Dr Raymond Stanz -     Jason Segal

Winston Zeddmore -     Idris Elba

Dana Barrett -              Angelina Jolie

Louis Tully -                 Simon Pegg

Walter Peck -               Brent Spiner

Mayor Lenny -              James Gandolfini

Gozer (Male Voice)       James Earl Jones

I would watch the shit out of this.

If Leone gets to make Empire, please tell me that he gets Clint Eastwood to play The Emperor.

Ha, I was going to go with Eastwood as Solo, but it seemed too obvious and Bronson fit better with later era Leone. For sequels, I was thinking Klaus Kinski as The Emperor and Woody Strode as Boba Fett, but beyond that I'm lost.

1988.

Unfazed by the commercial disappointment of Manhunter and NBC's cancellation of Crime Story, director Michael Mann returns to the neo-noir fray with a project, originally intended as a comedic Hal Needham/Burt Reynolds collaboration (and rewritten by Mann), that takes many by storm in its atmosphere and especially its violence, with Mann hiring the services of makeup artist Rob Bottin for its gorier moments.

Drive

Sean Penn as Driver

Jenny Wright as Irene

James Caan as Shannon

Kelly Preston as Blanche

Dennis Farina as Nino

Esai Morales as Standard

Xander Berkeley as Cook

and

Gene Wilder as Bernie Rose

Caan was originally Mann's first choice for the role of Rose, but he suggested taking the role of Shannon as a way to branch out his tough-guy image. The role was taken over by Wilder, whose performance was heralded as a brilliant against-type move.

YES.

Aww, Jenny Wright.

And yeah, that's a pretty solid Star Wars, Justin. Not quite seeing Eisenberg as the princely type through.

Female Yoda voice that raspy, exotic and wise:  Shohreh Aghdashloo.   Frank Oz can still do the movement performance.

I was more thinking of Oz's voice in a sort of older Miss Piggy mode, but now I'm hearing Shohreh Aghdashloo in a playful, old woman mode, and I havent stopped smiling.

American International Pictures is proud to announce:

Roger Corman's FINAL DESTINATION: THE ROCK MUSICAL (1967)

Director Corman has lined up a great crop of fresh young talent to sing the spooky story of a group of youths that successfully avoid a tragedy only to have Death chase after them.   This cast is really going places!

Starring:  Jim Croce, Ricky Nelson, Ronnie Van Zandt, Duane Allman, Harry Chapin, Dottie West, Otis Redding and John Denver.

Special appearance by Vic Morrow as the sinister coroner, Bludworth.

Since Greedo says like an Italian name, Monica Bellueci should get the part.

I'm not trying to make some kind of statement by casting a woman to play Brody. Its just in the QT canon, no one has kicked more ass than Uma!

So, assuming Quentin is actually adapting the book,.......................what you're saying is that Steve Buscemi is going to fuck John Travolta?  And then Uma will purposely blow Steve's brains out with a rifle in the third act?

While gearing up to do Music of the Heart and Scream III, Wes Craven decides to produce one of his unmade screenplays with colleague Romero in the director's chair.  George polishes the script, upping the social commentary and giving it an even darker feel.

The People Under The Stairs (1998)

Directed by George A. Romero

Screenplay by Wes Craven & George A. Romero

Man - Jim Carrey

Woman - Julia Roberts

Fool - Donald Glover

Leroy - Ken Foree

Spencer - Tom Savini

Grandpa Booker - Richard Roundtree

Cast whoever you want in the roles of Ruby, Alice, and Roach.  I would just love to see those two playing "Man" and "Woman".  Not that McGill and Robie weren't perfect, it's just a notion my brother and I had the last time we watched this.  I think Carrey and Roberts would be great choices, especially if they played the characters as sadistically as they currently are (if not even more so).

That's exactly what I was thinking! The scene we're both thinking of would be be so, so shocking. I thought that I'd like a warm, comic actor to play Bernie (like Brooks), then separately thought that Lemmon would be great in the Cranston role... then bingo! Accidentally beautiful ironic casting.

Otherwise I was blatantly thinking of equivalents from previous generations: Beatty (like Gosling) is a mysterious, cerebrel ladies' man and Dunaway (like Hendricks) was both appropriate and a dash of stunt casting, (again) with added advantage of the fact that audiences saw them together before.

I was one of the only 12 year old Oliver Stone super fans in existence, and I've long been a supporter of his career and works. One film that I greatly enjoy is ANY GIVEN SUNDAY. I've written about it on the boards before. While I've complained about Cameron DIaz in RECASTING threads and not hesitated to recast her before (like in GANGS OF NEW YORK where I'd have swapped out Leo DiCaprio for either Christian Bale or Colin Farrell, and Diaz with Kelly MacDonald), in AGS as Christina Pagniacci I really have no major complaints with her work. Other than AGS, only in THE BOX would I call her acting anything other than bad. However, I was thinking, who could have done that role better? Who could have elevated it and been a true sparring partner for Pachino? *Who has worked with Stone before and has a proven track record of excellence?*

Joan Allen

3d2511a6.jpg

She'd already delivered one of the best performances of the 1990s in NIXON,  and would have been the right age for the part. I think she'd have been great in a role like Pagniacci, able to brind real venom and spite to her bouts with the football team, where Cameron Diaz at times struggled to match the intensity of the other performers
