Robin Hood has to be Hawkeye.  I think Gable is perfect for Stark, personally.

I'd go Gary Cooper for Cap. But that poster is pretty perfect.

Cooper is ideal, but I was going for an actor who wouldn't have been in his 40's during WWII.

Attention to detail, my good man!

Hey, he played younger in SGT. YORK.

Stark was created as a mixture of Howard Hughes and Errol Flynn by Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck and Jack Kibry. I'm not going to supersede them.

Also, Burt Lancaster as Cap.

Yep, Gary Cooper is the ideal Cap. I wish I'd thought of that. It's so obvious.

Not only too obvious... I don't think even Klaus Kinski was crazy enough to actually act something like that out on screen. He was insane, no question. But there are limits.

My friends....

I can't think of any actor alive or dead that would actually simulate incest on screen.

Not to mention that Charlotte would have been fucking 14 years old when making the movie back then, and her pop would have been 56. Even if they weren't related, that just wouldn't have played.

You haven't seen Serge Gainsbourg's "Lemon Incest" video, have you? Oldboy wouldn't have been much of a leap.

Emmanuelle Beart would be the sensible choice but I felt like being provocative.

I'm gonna go Tony Roberts.

Oh, you're right, he probably wouldn't simulate it.

I love Veronica Cartwright, but that's a left field choice.

In 1979, that role belongs to Brooke Adams, Jessica Lange, Nancy Allen, Sissy Spacek, or a delectably young Meryl Streep.

Delectable as she was, gotta go with Brooke Adams. Ah, those eyes...

Speaking of Cartwright, for Banner I'd prefer her lanky Invasion of the Body Snatchers co-star best known for bit parts in Annie Hall and Death Wish - Jeff Goldblum!

Incest is brother/sister not just father daughter, right? Because, although he did not simulate it in a movie, he was crazy enough to say in his autobiography that he had an adolescant affair with his sister. And this:

Someone do a David Mamet or Coen Brothers Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia.

In the early 2000s Warner Brothers decided to reboot their tarnished Batman-franchise. They decided to mimic Fox Studios' highly successfull X-MEN and hire an up and coming art house director to lead the bat to a new direction. After negotiations with Darren Aronofsky fell through Warners considered Nicolas Winding-Refn and Christopher Nolan. In the end the studio decided to go with an Oscar-nominated writer-director who at the time was heralded as the voice of her generation.

Sofia Coppola's BATMAN BEGINS premiered in 2005 at the Cannes film festival to a mixed response. Stephen Dorff's portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Coppola's decision to shoot on location in New York City streets instead of sets were applauded. The platonic romance between Bruce Wayne and Rachel Dawes (Kirsten Dunst) was also well received. The somber tone and the film's focus on the plight of the privileged heir of Wayne Enterprises instead of action scenes however left the critics and audiences cold. BATMAN BEGINS was the first Batman film to not feature scored music. Instead the soundtrack comprised of 80's and 90's pop music (My Bloody Valentine, Air, Siouxsie And The Banshees).

Due to disappointing box office, Coppola didn't get to realise the sequel that had Bill Murray already signed on to play an old and world-weary Joker.

BATMAN BEGINS

Directed by Sofia Coppola

Written by Sofia Coppola based on a draft by David S. Goyer

Cast

BRUCE WAYNE - Stephen Dorff

RACHEL DAWES - Kirsten Dunst

JIM GORDON - Anthony LaPaglia

HENRI DUCARD - David Bowie

ALFRED - William Hurt

SCARECROW - Jason Schwarzman

It's great, but you need the celebrity name for Jesse. I'd go with Redford, or maybe Dustin Hoffman?

I know Ed Harris wasn't a big movie star, and maybe I could have gone with Kurt Russell, who maybe was closer to that at that point, but ultimately I don't really think that meta aspect is necessary to sell the idea that the movie was dealing with the nature of celebrity.  I just like picturing Harris in the role.  Nevertheless, point well taken-- as there was something to having Pitt in the role that made it more meaningful.

You could set it in 83 and go with Steve McQueen as Jesse (awesome coda)

I've always said The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford would have been the blaze of glory for Peckinpah's career, had he lived longer. It could have been his Once Upon a Time in America.

But, we all know Coburn, Borgnine, Kristofferson, and (if we're lucky) Oates could have factored in.

A quiet epic with crazy squibs. So fucking good.

Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is practically  a spiritual precursor to Jesse James anyways.
