One studio to distribute them all, and in the royalties outlast them.

So exciting! I can't wait.

Ace photoshop, too.

Ugh, stop cramming LotR actors into a film(s) where they don't belong.  Bridge films, two films.  Byt the Jackson is through this will be a trilogy in its own right and a massive letdown.

I disagree.  I mean, Jackson changed plenty about LOTR to make it flow as a trilogy, and we got some pretty awesome stuff.  I trust his choices given his Tolkien track record.  Is there room for failure?  Sure... but no more than there was before.

Frodo will return in the prologues of the two films, with he and Bilbo’s written version of their tales being the center of the cameo

Meh. But atleast they're not compositing Elijah's head on baby Frodo's body ala LITTLE MAN.

And with every piece of news I hear for this film I get more down hearted. Just give me one, single, complete Hobbit movie. That's all I want and all we need.

Do you read each piece of news expecting them to have collapsed their half-billion dollar multi-film production into a quaint, straightforward adaptation? Gentleman might need to recalibrate his expectations, if that's the case.

I'm afraid you may have to recalibrate your own expectations if you think Tolkien fans aren't going to flood every piece of news, every new image or bit of footage released with insufferable bickering about whether it's acceptable or not. It's barely even started. Kens post there will be like their mantra.

With all the talk of old cast members returning I'm kind of surprised there's been no word on whether Holm will be involved. If the book is being used as a framing device, using Holm for voice-over purposes makes a certain amount of sense.

The addittions will become what Bombadil and the cutting of songs were for the first trilogy.

"But if he cuts Bombadil and the Barrow Downs how will he explain the Hobbits getting the Westernesse swords? LOTR is RUINED!"

"By cutting the songs he's losing the whimsy and the atmosphere of the books! He's making them pointlesly grim and dark! LOTR is RUINED!"

This is great news! Every piece of news that comes out about The Hobbit gets me more and more excited. Awesome photoshop work by the way.

Nice. Have been pulling for PJ to get this one through, and it’s great to know it’s finally coming together. As for the changes, I’m putting trust in the fact that Jackson and co. Spent a LONG time immersed in Tolkein’s world and know what they’re doing. Just get McKellan’s signature on the dotted line once and for all, and we’ll be good to go.
