WHY YA GONNA CALL?

Ivan Reitman needs Ghostbusters III, but I'm trying to figure out who else does.

The talkbacks work so good, the thread goes unloved!

I'd totally see Ghostbusters 3 no matter what, because I'm a fool like that, but this whole article was dead on and fantastic.

I'm the same way with this one. If they were right up front and said it was the worst shit ever i'd still have my ass in a seat opening night.

You would think that after the collective disappointment/downright loathing of the prequels, Crystal Skull and TRON: Legacy, that most discerning audiences would shun this idea like a child molester.

I'll see the movie regardless. I just want them to finally stop harping about walls they're coming up to and just make the damn picture. As best as they can of course.

If everyone's already saying "I'll see the movie regardless," what incintive do they have to make it any good? Jesus, you guys are easy.

Oh no! Ivan Reitman might read this and half-ass it!

You're doing a bang up job of missing the point there.

I don't want them to half ass it. I just want them to make it already. It's Ghostbusters, and I dragged my parents to see Ghostbusters 2 in 1989 when I was 5. I will see this movie even if it's got bad word of mouth. I liked, and still like Ghostbusters 2, and that's one that a lot of people think is crap. Ghostbusters III can't turn out to be all that bad. I enjoyed Indy 4, but even I will say that one had so many plot holes. Certainly Reitman will look at that and try to not make the same mistakes.

I really don't see this being any good, but anything can happen.  They've had years to come up with gags, jokes, plots and ghosts.  Hopefully, they can string something solid together.

This is fucking depressing. Nothing good will ever come from this.

The "They had years" so it'll be good is what we all had in mind for the 4th Indiana Jones.. Anyways, I love Ghostbusters, while I will see this, I do say there is no need for it....

Anyways, I hope Paul Rudd is it.

Sometimes the worst thing is to have all the time in the world to make something "better."  You start tweaking and tweaking and having "Oh hey, here's a good idea" moments, until whatever it is you're working on is this bloated mess filled with bits everyone loves too much to jettison.

As the Ghostbusters Tax Disc holder and dashbord sticker in my car will tell you, I'm still a big fan of Ghostbusters. But I really don't want a third movie.

Please guys, just leave us with the one perfect and one ok films we have.

Well said, Nick. I see no reason to see this as anything more than yet another carrot dangled in front of the public to scrounge a bit of attention and relevancy, by people who have long run out of both. Aykroyd’s been pulling this trick for years, and it’s way past its sell-by date.

eh, when it comes out, i'll see it. until then, I really care less and less with every 'non-news' piece of news about it. just shut up and start production already

I sure miss Dan Aykroyd being funny, but Gho$tbusters: The Crappening isn't the vehicle to expect it from.

Most likely scenario: It'll get made at some point. Murray will have another dumptruck full of gold. Ernie Hudson will be briefly relevant again. Everyone (including me) will see it regardless of quality. The first film will still exist.

What was the last movie Aykroyd was funny in? Hell, all that comes to mind is Pearl Harbor.. ZING!

 Grosse Point Blank, maybe?

Must be tough to be Murray. You have your old colleagues constantly bugging you about getting back together for a movie you clearly are not interested in. At this point, the only sure thing about a GB3 seems to be the likelihood that it could damage Murray's rep. I don't know who in their right mind would want to work with Reitman, but it must be tough to have to say "No" over and over

One thing about the article though: you talked about the script for INJATLC being bad. Surely you meant CRYSTAL SKULL? Last Crusade is a great film IMHO
