Joshua reminisces about some truly awful movie theaters.

I've never been to the Walker theater, but I did have the distinct pleasure of visiting Eden Prairie West (and East) and the Yorktown theaters.  Josh is NOT lying on this...they were beyond shitty.

Eden Prairie West:  A fucking dive.  Shitty, closet sized theaters with ruined seats and permanently sticky floors.  We went there a lot to see the Midnight Madness shows, though...I think that we saw 'Pink Floyd the Wall' and 'Heavy Metal' 5-6 times each in there.  I also knew two of the managers there for a year of so.  They were pretty cool stoners who got me into a couple of free showings now and then.

Yorktown:  My big memory of the Yorktown theater is 'Phantasm II'.  I went there with a couple of buddies and we were the ONLY ones there.  They eventually turned it into a Cinema Grill type place but that only lasted about 2 years.

And Walker is a cool town.  My in-laws had a place on Leech Lake and we used to go up there all the time before they sold it.  Great fishing.

Good memories.  Nice article, Josh!

Man, Eden Prairie West sounds like it was way cooler back in your day than mine. I did not have cool stoner managers.

I don't miss the theaters I used to go to at all. Mostly because of the seats. I don't think there was a single one in my town where you didn't walk out afterwards feeling like a byproduct of the shunting. You could feel your vertebrae fuse together and your hip joints dislocate under the strain of those infernal, crooked contraptions.
