Bob's Burgers

New animated sitcom on Fox from the creator of Dr. Katz and Home Movies. Anyone catch the first episode that aired on Sunday? Very funny stuff. Great voice cast as well.

watched it. had lots of Ups and only a few downs. really funny stuff. can't wait for more episodes

I dug it, too.  Kristen Schaal and Eugene Mirman as two of the children was inspired voice casting.  I'll admit I laughed at the fart noisemaker every time.

The first 5-10 minutes were the funniest to me, but overall I enjoyed it.  And yeah, the fart loudspeaker had me rolling every time he used it.  The kid scratching her crotch also killed me.

I liked it for an opening episode.  It definitely has some rough spots that could be polished, but I love just about anything H. Jon Benjamin.  If you missed it, it's on Hulu.

H Jon Benjamin should be in everything, and pretty soon he probably will be.

Didn't think the 2nd episode was as funny as the first one, but it still had it's moments.  Sometimes I wish I had a wall crawlspace to hide in.  And watching the living dead make out was kind of disgusting, even for a cartoon.

that kid with the pink touque is the best part of the show. otherwise, hit and miss.

This show's fucking hilarious. Funniest thing on Sunday nights, I'm in for a full season.

Seriously, is no one watching this? Last episode was the funniest yet. I am assuming this is going to be cancelled?

yea, I really enjoyed that last episode. This show is really finding its own voice and I like it.

I have just started it and it is good.

Renewed!

YES.

Now, to Hulu, all of you! Watch! Love!

It's back!
Two weeks in. Apparently the ratings aren't very good.

I thought the Goonies episode was fun.  Been busy with work and Spring Break is coming up, so I'm going to have to catch up.

If anyone at Fox has half a brain, they need to make a downloadable version of Burger Boss available. I could completely understand how Bob could get addicted to that game.

"Chicken Leg!"

Looooove Bob's Burgers.  I like how all of the kids are insane in their own distinct ways, but the show underplays the parents' reaction to it.  Bob is a generally level-headed dude (when he's not hopped up on pills and assaulting yacht clubs), but the show doesn't go either of the obvious routes with his relationship to the kids.  He could be blinded by parental devotion and utterly oblivious to the horrors he spawned, like Marge Simpson is frequently with Bart.  Or he could be Hank Hill, a total square who is constantly shaking his head and struggling to connect with children who he does not seem to have the first thing in common with.  But he's neither.  He's aware that Gene is a little freakshow, but he clearly loves the kid and doesn't get angry with him.  When Louise Caddyshack's the pool, he's not horrified nor does he make excuses for her; he's sort of amused and impressed and a little embarrassed at the same time.

Comedy generally lives in extremes, so you shouldn't be able to get away with being a little of several things and still be funny.  But Bob's makes the middle ground feel bizarre and hilarious.  The kids are inherently ridiculous, but the show doesn't treat his acceptance of them as ridiculous, which I think is part of the reason it feels fresh even though its a cartoon about a lower-middle class married couple with 3 strange children.

"You taught us that it wasn't a lie if you told it to vegetarians."

"...I did teach you that."

Such a shame more people aren't watching this.

I don't know why, but when she threw the baby powder in Gene's face and screamed "ANTHRAX!", it just killed me.

This show needs more viewers.

I don't know why, but that Reservoir Dogs riff from the last episode killed me.

Loved that shit too. This is brilliant comedy, and it'll be a damn shame if it gets cancelled. I look forward to the names of the specials all week.

I've gone through the first season on Instant.  It's fun.  Love the voices and I can't get the opening theme out of my head.  It's ridiculously catchy.

Has anyone mentioned all the terrific little songs in the show with lyrics that actually refer to the goings-on, and not just pop tunes?

I think there may be a rights issues with the songs they use on streaming versions of the show.  On Netflix, there is clearly a different song playing compared to the lyrics I see on the subtitles (which I often turn on for no reason).

There was an episode where I saw the lyrics for Across 110th Street on the screen, but it was clearly not that song playing.
