Lena Headey will be the big bad of Judge Dredd. She can be bad. But she's not very big....

I pictured someone uglier when I read the script.

One of my favorite properties gets one of my favorite ladies. I'm very OK with that.

Elisabeth Rappe, This is an...original character, not in the comics, right?  So, at least to me, it doesn't matter that she were originally older, and bigger.  Lena Headey, was terrific in, 300, and I would expect the same intensity in Dredd!

So...they are filming now...

It's STALKIN' TIME!

Given the description of the character, I feel like there's no way Headey is waltzing in front of the cameras in all her natural hotness. They've got to be planning on uglying her up. I hope. I don't know that I'll mind much if she's just allowed to look like Lena Headey, but I think it'd be pretty rad if the movie ends up putting her in a fat suit and heavy make-up.

Not a big fan of her, based on her work in 300 and what little I've seen of T:TSCC. However, I do like Urban and the concept is intriguing so this doesn't really dampen my enthusiasm for the project

well I for one am glad they aren't going down The Dark Judges route for this one.

Agreed, maybe a bit later in the series but not right now.  Also any Dredd news is good news.

OK, that's... Interesting. I saw the headline, and the first thing that popped in my head was 'Judge Hershey' (For whom Headey would've been a great pick)

This is... Well, it's not strictly a bad thing. Just a weird thing. Headey's a good enough actor that I reckon she could pull it off, and everyone involved with the production seems to know what they're doing so far (Well they haven't cast Rob Schneider yet, which puts them ahead already), so I'd say they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

In the script she's described as a big, fat 60 year old ex-hooker with a scar on her face.

Since I don't understand why you'd cast Headey and then stick her in a fat suit, they'll probably change the character to a "40 something skinny ex-hooker with a scar on her face".

Call it a triumph of hope over experience and expectation, or put it down to my cheery, optimistic and sunny disposition but I am rather looking forward to this. It's not like I'm a huge fan of the comics or anything - the only time I ever read them was to stave off boredom during a stint on a newstand way back when (in fact my **BIG** claim to fame comes from those days when I sold a newspaper to the doctor guy from An American Werewolf in London - yes, contain your excitement, dearies and no, you may not touch me). Yet despite that, I do have a fondness for the character and have a good feeling about this one.

That said, while I do like Lena Headey, I'm having a hard time thinking of anything she's been in that was actually much cop. Hmmm. I guess The Jungle Book was alright but everything else...nah. So yes, I guess what I'm saying is she's great but she may also be the Harbinger of Rubbishness. Or something.

This seems terrible. This is your villain? Give me a break. Cheap ball less city is what this move is. Hollywood I tell you.
