My exact thoughts. I really hope Garfield knocks it out the park.

I like the suit enough. They're going for the more skinny Spidey, I don't have a problem with that.

You see this is what has always kept me from full-on hating this reboot. I fucking loved Zodiac and it had a great script.  Now does Webb match up to Fincher as a director?  I doubt it but I quite liked 500 Days of Summer so I'm more than optimistic about this.

Vanderbilt also penned "The Losers" and "Basic" and I believe he was one of hundreds of guys to polish "Wolverine." So he's not exactly a powerful influence on how this movie's gonna turn out.

Don't forget Darkness Falls! biggrin.gif Anyways, last I heard, Alvin Sargent was brought on to do a script polish. I actually really like the suit for the most part, and Garfield looks aces as Parker.

If an actual organic vs. artificial web-shooters debate breaks out again I'm shutting down the internet.

Is everyone OK with that?

For comparison's sake, here's the Raimi costume in a similar shot:

Also, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the three obvious slash/claw marks on Garfield's chest. The Lizard! Finally!

Prefer Raimi's version, but he sure does look like Spider-Man.

Oh yes please.  The argument itself has always kinda baffled me.  If you can believe a kid being given superpowers by an insect bite, you can believe he's able to do either of those two.  Besides if you follow either argument to it's logical conclusion it always comes down to "He should be shooting web out of his anus". Always...

And I too just noticed that the web motif stops at his chest.  Not a fan of that.

This image is very large and I don't want to mess up the thread. But it looks like metal to me.

I stand fully corrected.  I was looking for more prominence around the whole wrist, but those are definitely like metallic protrusions.  Cool.

I find it odd that they seem to have got rid of the classic web pattern on his costume. This new costume uses more of a grid pattern than web one.

I'll admit he's got a slinder build, but he could easily pass for a high school quarterback.

I want huge eyes on his mask.

Well, that did it.  I'm excited about this now.  Damn it, I was so close to not caring about Spider-man!

The director doesn't seem the type to bulldoze over the script.  The only thing to worry about is studio inteference, but yeah, definitely interested now.

That would look pretty dorky in live action.

Considering Peter's parents have been casted in the film, it's possible that the Ultimate Spider-Man plot has been adapted in which Peter's dad left behind a formula which Peter finishes, and which turns out to be the web fluid.

The costume looks pretty good. I'm not so hesitant about a reboot: Maguire and Raimi got three films. This is comparable to Batman Forever bearing little resemblance to Batman Returns just three years earlier, except, you know, hopefully better.

I think Garfield and the suit look pretty great. Just watched The Social Network again last night and between his role in that his more swinging dick character in Red Riding I think he's going to be a great Peter Parker/Spiderman. Also looking at that pic of Raimi's suit BTSMGL posted and the one of Garfield it really seems to me that there's no contest. Then again i'll be upfront with the fact that I hate Raimi's films, and I think that outside of the internet they're really met with indifference. Looking forward to seeing more from this film.

Yeah I know they made a lot of money when they were released, but if you ask the average person who doesn't spend time on internet film message boards their opinion of the films nowadays, nobody really cares about them. They're just kind of there to most people, like any other superhero film other than Iron Man and Batman. Basically what I'm saying is that I don't think most people give a shit that this is being rebooted.

I'm willing to take that risk. They already made 3 Spidey flicks. I can deal with some risk-taking. :)
