Survivor Redemption Island - Page 3

Doh! You're quite correct. My mistake.

Have you ever watched Survivor before? Jury's are emotional. They don't vote for the best player. They vote for the person who fucked them over the least. They'll see Rob as the manipulator and Natalie as the sweet, innocent girl who was swept into his evil claws. Barring any crazy shenanagins at the Final Tribal, the only Zapatera I see voting for Rob is David.

I know you're likely right, I just don't want you to be right about it. Sigh. Symptomatic of why this season's been so boring. It's patently obvious Rob's outplayed everyone; the only real thing endangering him is the stupid RI twist they've put in, and that has nothing to do with playing skill.

I agree they'll be a bit pissed at Rob. But they certainly don't respect Phil or the girls. Natalie wasn't liked especially and she's clearly there because she has a weak presence in the game. Barring RI bullshittery, I think Rob has got this in the bag.

The Russell stuff at the finale is going to be so awkward.

Zapatera are a bitter bunch. Julie buried Phil's shorts, Ralph made Andrea sleep on the floor... there's no way these people are gonna pay respect to Rob, even if they think he was the better player. They are out for revenge.

Tonight's the night! I don't know about you all, but I personally can't wait to DVR it, watch Game of Thrones, and get around to this maybe on Wednesday!

I don't watch(last time was origional Rupert season), but I just saw a commercial with Boston Rob in the final 4.  Why is he still in the game?  How dumb can they be the 3rd time?

By being his obedient sheeple all season, they've already answered your question: extremely stupid.

That was an amazing tribal council: time after time, both Phillip and Natalie basically said, "We're only here because Rob brought us." David's remarks were spot on, and I wasn't at all surprised he made them.

Let's hope next season they drop RI and get back to what made the show great.

I cannot stand Rob, but thank dog this jury finally awarded the best contestant in the game, with the exception of the retarded redneck.  The last couple of seasons of seeing 2nd rate players win because the jury was butt hurt was just enough to drive me away completely.  It sucks to hear they're bringing back RD.  Stupid.  All the extra twists take away from the game, not add to it.

I'm really excited that they're finally doing a musical season next time, though.

Thank Xenu. For the first time in what feels like too long the best player won the game.

Rob earned this in spades. With this season's performance he rightfully earned a spot alongside master strategist winners Richard Hatch, Parvati Shallow, Yul Kwon, Earl Cole and - one of my personal faves - Brian Heidik.  He dominated unapologetically and became the best type of winner. After ALL STARS, it was a bit obvious he felt like he needed to earn the title. So glad he finally got it. His win didn't quite redeem this season, but it definitely saved the finale, which was actually more suspenceful than I'd expected it to be. I had grim fears that Andrea and the girls were going to team-up and oust him and allow one of them to take the million. Which would have been worse than cancer. And the holocaust.

Probst and the producers must have sighed a breath of relief when none of the jury votes read "Natalie."

They must have also sighed in relief when Phillip made the jury. His answers were brilliant. Can't wait to see him and Coach together in ALL STARS 3.

Redemption Island also proved completely fucking useless in the end, which was both good and bad. I would have hated to see Matt or Andrea or whoever come back and win, so I'm glad it failed. But, oh, how it killed the drama of the show and wasted precious airtime for no reason. Honestly, I'd have rather watched the salute to fallen comrades than the final RI duel, as there was no good final outcome as far as I was concerned.

The reunion was more entertaining than the ghastly Nicaragua closer. Rob had plenty of airtime and was able to talk eloquently about the game and strategy. Russell was also slightly less abrasive (slightly!) than previous reunions and was gracious towards Rob and saved most his venom for Steve. Which is awesome.

Grant sure was butt-hurt. Weird.

So, two more previous Survivors are returning next season, huh? I'm going to make a bold prediction and say that David and Matt are the two. Matt, because he got a raw deal in the game and was runner-up for the Sprint popularity poll. Call it the Stephanie LeGrossa effect. And David, because of the fact he was hyped as a brilliant gamester who never got to play. Probst dropped hints in his blog that he really wanted David back. So there, those or my best-educated guesses.

I doubt they'd have two from the previous season come back right away. David would likely be a deal breaker for me in terms of viewing. Just a dull douche. Oh yeah, that marriage'll last.

Plus I'd imagine at least one of the returning players would be a woman.

The most deserving player won, and the most entertaining player got runner-up. No gripes about that.

Both Steph and Bobby Jon returned for another round immediately after their time in Palau...

Okay, but they did make it one from each gender. Matt might get a nod to please the God crowd but nobody else from this season will be chosen, especially David who won't move the needle one bit. He's puke.

I'm calling it now:  returning players will be both women:  Cirie and Stephanie.  If not Stephanie, then Amanda Kimmel.

Pretty good finale and deserving winner partially redeem a very so-so season.

Amanda's said she's done. Won't return. Which is too bad, because Amanda in the mud challenge is a visual that still threatens to send me to my knees.

I'm calling Mike and Russell, or Matt and Russell or the returnees. The latter would really feed into their preferred narrative of good vs evil.

I'd bet good money on the show bringing Mike back.

In other news, I will be attending a Survivor casting call next month.  If I make it on the show, and it's a season featuring Russell, I will become famous as the guy who kicked Russell in the taint.

Matt seems a lock.  My guess is paired up with his squeeze/Judas Andrea, or maybe Russel (but do they keep him fresher for the next inevitable All Stars) or Phil.

Longshot is a  Coach/Phil duel.

They're running out of interesting locales.  "South Pacific" is incredibly generic, plus they've been to the South Pacific about 10 times already.

Good luck! Let us know if you make it on (if you're allowed!). We'll be sure to give you all sorts of completly inapplicable advice.

Stephanie said on Twitter she's not going back. Apparently she's pregnant.

It's going to be Mike vs. Matt in Survivor: Where's Your God Now?

Ha.  Will do.

Oh, I forgot to to mention: did anyone else notice Adam Scott in the audience during the reunion? He was sitting right behind the federal agent woman they trotted out to back up Phil's claims, and did his best to look inconspicuous and stare off into space.

OK, good ending, average season. It rode entirely on Rob and Phillip's backs, but they bore the weight. Glad Ashley got betrayed, ugh.

But its Wednesday, and there's already not much to say about it. Other than I hope Richard Hatch is coming back. Dude was on Celebrity Apprentice, it's time to come home.

I just want them to move it back to Thursdays. Watching it on Wednesday completely screws up my internal calendar.

I prefer it on Wednesdays just so it doesn't mess with my COMMUNITY/PARKS hour.

Just caught up and I have nothing to add. One the one hand, it was amazing to see Rob dominate the game so completely. On the other hand, this season couldn't have been more boring.  And yeah, if they had any chance at winning the mil, Philip and Natalie blew it when their collective speeches were how they were loyal to Rob. *facepalm*

Also, Natalie's complaint that they couldn't oust Rob because he had the idol was complete bullshit. They could've done it much earlier in the game when there were more numbers and people desperate to flip. They could've created rumors making Rob paranoid enough to play it or they split the votes, taking out grant earlier and showing Rob that they are contenders. Once again, credit goes to Rob for working those bonds so that EVERYONE thought they were in his inner circle. It's kinda amazing.
