HBO has found a replacement for Flight of the Conchords
post #2 of 10

I'm not a big fan of Garfunkle and Oates, but I can only imagine that if they get a show it means a lot of cameos from their friends in the alt-comedy community. Which is a good thing.

Seems a little weird for HBO to be the network interested in them. Their songs just aren't quite as brilliant as Tenacious D's or Conchords were, musically speaking. They seem perfect for a Comedy Central show.

I have a crush on the dark-haired one, so I'll be watching the hell out of this.  Plus, they have catchy songs.

Always enjoy their adorableness appearances on Doug Loves Movies or Comedy Death-Ray Podcast. Good for them.

They may not be as musically adept as Tenacious D or Flight of the Conchords (then again they're cute girls; I'm more than willing to lower the bar) but their songs are every bit as funny. "Pregnant Women are Smug" and "Running with Chicken (Based on the movie 'Precious' based on the novel 'Push' by Sapphire)" are pure awesome. And at the end of the day, I'm not listening to a musical comedy duo because of their musicianship.

This really works out because I have a crush on the blonde one. Double date?

You do know that you can see her topless in the Last House on the Left remake?  She's pretty skanky in that, though.

While I enjoy their look and their lyrics, I find it hard to believe that in this day and age people still back their parody and humor rap music with 80s whitebread casiofunk.

It's really not a large step from Lonely Island. Except I never get the feeling that Garfunkle and Oates actually want to be rappers.

And thus the pathway to my heart has been revealed. Naked + skanky = <3
