Peter Sarsgaard - NEVER intimidating.

I'm actually impressed by how well-done the make-up and costuming is for the character.  If Sarsgaard channels his energy from An Education, I think his performance in Green Lantern will be more nuanced than some people are anticipating.  It doesn't look like they're just going for flat-out intimidating.

He grows a giant head and starts cackling like a madman in the third act.

That's hardly conclusive.  While I don't dismiss the fact that he will be a little crazy (although one cackle and a giant head is little to go by), there's still plenty of room for nuance in a story arc like that, especially since a pretty decent amount of time will be devoted to the pre-transformation period.  I trust Sarsgaard and Martin Campbell.

I don't know much Green Lantern lore outside of the basics, is Sarsgaard Jeffrey Jones to Parallax's Dark Lord of the Universe in this?

Sarsgaard is a dead ringer for Michael Jeter in that pic.

Wow... kind of mind blowing that this is supposed to be a tent pole. Frankly I find the fact that Peter Saarsgaard is getting a big role like this the most exciting element of the film (I first saw him in CENTER OF THE WORLD back when that movie came out). So, on that front, for this still it's mission accomplished, I guess

Otherwise, this is looking like a bomb, IMHO. I hear more buzz for GREEN HORNET than GREEN LANTERN, and HORNET is constantly talked about as having "soft" tracking numbers
