Paper Man

This was surprisingly good.

It's like a different take on the Lost In Translation story. Adding Imaginary Characters into the mix.

Jeff Daniels plays a lonely and completely socially inadequate writer who is spending the winter in Nantucket away from his wife to write a new book. He meets a young high school girl who is a little off and lonely and they develop a friendship.

You know the deal. But Daniels is terrific and Emma Stone proves why she'll be a huge star one day.

Ryan Reynolds provides most of the fun with his imaginary Captain Excellent character. He's been with Richard for over 40 years helping him deal with stressful situations.

He looks amazing in a semi Superman outfit.

Kieran Culkin and Lisa Kudrow round up the cast.

Honestly, it sounds and even looked like something completely average. But it works and very well.

Yeah, I really dug this film.  It's alot more honest than alot of similar movies that can often carry a certain pretentiousness with them.  Pissed the blu of this is region locked, because it's definitely the kind of small film I could watch repeatedly over the years.  Uniformly excellent performances all round.  Book couch is awesome, too.

I liked it too. Quite a bit. Daniels at times came out as too much of an overtly needy manchild and clashed a little with everyone else. But watching this and Easy A in close succession made Stone's potential very clear for me. Barring some huge mishap, she's going places. Culkin and Reynolds were great too.
