Roger Ebert Presents: At The Movies

So, this premiered over the weekend. Love the format-- the joy of cinema is a much stronger throughline here than the old show which felt like it catered to a more general audience. The single camera location spots look great, f'r instance. I also like how they're going to be stepping away from the grind of reviews to discuss related industry topics and news.

Based on the first episode I like the hosts a lot. They're comfortable on camera, have decent chemistry together and disagree! About everything! It will take some time to determine how much of their opinions I respect, but from what little I've read of their print work seems fairly impressive. That said, Kim Morgan reviewing classic releases in B&W every week!? Yes, please.

Yeah, I enjoyed this quite a bit. It was a nice, comfortable throwback. Loved Herzog as Ebert, of course. The two hosts were fine by me, but need to work a little bit on their discussion beats. Anyway, love that it's on...and commercial free.
