CapAm gets the full EMPIRE cover treatment.

Better than the EW cover, and even more like a JC Leyendecker pic than I previously mentioned. Still looks overly concerned though.

He keeps holding onto that semi-Blue Steel look.  Stop pouting!  Hahaha.  Costume looks cool though.

I like it. Really looking forward to this on.

I get the feeling Johnson must be telling him to look particularly earnest or something

I agree, I think the Empire cover > EW cover. I've had some reservation about Evans playing Cap initially, but so far those photos have been winning me over. I hope the movie will be awesome.

Even though it's come a bit down from its lofty heights, it's Empire everything> EW everything as a rule.

This is my most anticipated of  the current batch of superhero movies.

He looks like one of the German terrorists an 80s action hero like JohnMcClane would fight in an office building.

Or in other words: Too Leni Riefenstahl for my taste.

Actually, vaguely fascist iconography is exactly what superhero movies need.  In fact I'm surprised people aren't outright ripping off Riefestahl's The Triumph Of The Will shots.

Man, Evans looks frighteningly perfect for the role. I didn't think it would be possible to find a young action-movie star who looks so much like he stepped off the cover of the Saturday Evening Post circa 1942, but there you go.

So I'm the only one who thinks he looks like a five-year-old?

Damn, you must have some butch looking five year olds in South Africa. I don't know if I should envy or fear for you.

That has always sort of been the point.  Steve Rogers, post-super serum, is exactly the uber-mensch the Nazi regime touts.  But beyond looking like the uber-mensch, he embodies the more moral aspects of the ultimate man.  Good, kind, heroic, honest, principled.  Hence the irony when their wet dream is punching them in the face.
