TYLER PERRY TO RUIN ANOTHER GOOD THING

The worst gets worse.

This is perfect. A match made in heaven.

James Patterson writes for the lowest common denominator of the reading public. Tyler Perry panders to his audience. This is kismet.

I couldn't be happier about this.

Cameron, that post reminded me of someone here saying it's a good thing that Brett Ratner was looking to direct a Youngblood movie. Everything that sucks would be quarantined.

I came to this thread before I read the article, and I assumed that Perry was directing Elba(they've worked together before) in the new Cross franchise. This is pretty weird considering Perry hasn't acted, to my knowledge, under anyone else's direction(aside from the Star Trek cameo).

But yeah, it doesn't smell good so far. I'm already getting weird "made for Hallmark Channel" vibes from this.

I'm so sorry everyone, but I'm absolutely excited about this. I fucking love Tyler Perry.

Blech. What an unpleasant bit of news.

Saw that mentioned in the article as well - what part did he play? Didn't notice it at all, but then again, I wasn't looking for it...

He was the admiral of the Starfleet Acadmey that tried to court martial Kirk for cheating. Perry was very stern, very serious!

I know it's easy to dogpile on Perry, his films deserve it, but I have to give the guy props for putting his name on Precious for it to get bigger distribution. I believe it was Micah that talked about him trying to use his clout to give exposure to more deserving artists(not unlike Peter Jackson's relationship with Neill Blomkamp).

But yeah, that Madea shit has got to go. It's like Blackface Mama's Family.

Except Jackson is a deserving artist too. It's a deserving artist empowering another. With Perry it's a blight leaking goodwill but for every Precious how many other dogshits are we going to endure?

That's great, but starting with that Lifeforce bit is proof that Nick is tops. And I don't even care about the Alex Cross character or any of the players involved, it's just a little gem of an article.

A relief, actually. I have no direct experience with Perry, but my limited exposure to Cross (one chapter of one book, half an hour or so of one of the Freeman movies) suggested that this wasn't for me, but I was willing to give Elba my ten bucks just because he's earned it. Maybe I'll just send him a check.

That's a good point about Jackson/Blomkap.

To answer that question, all I can say is I hope it isn't a lot.  I just try to see the cure in the cancer so I can police my cynicism because I'll go crazy if I don't.
