CHUD QUICK LIST: 10 GREAT ADULT/CHILD DUOS

I know it's fallen out of favor over the years, but I'd add Willis and Osment from The Sixth Sense to the list.  Their relationship props up the whole movie and makes it so much more than a spook show. 

Easily add 'Life is Beautiful'.

I really dig Kikujiro.  Takeshi Kitano and a mopey dull boy.  Heheheh

I am so fucking relieved to see no Ke Huy Quan on this list. Props for Paper Moon-- that's the first one I thought of.

ETA: Ooh ooh, Jet Li and Xie Mao in New Legend of Shaolin.

Paper Moon was the film I was going to raise hell about if I didn't see it on the list.  Hammerhead, let us share a Nehi and a Coney Island!

Yeah, I thought that was a notable omission from the list, myself. Aliens backlash, perhaps?

No ALIENS backlash from me. Love the film, though Newt is my least favorite character. But that had nothing to do with it. To me the Newt stuff in ALIENS is more of a subplot than central focus. I don't really consider Ripley/Newt a duo in the same way the other pairings on the list are.

Pretty good list, all in all. Enzo Staiola and Natalie Portman are good choices. Glaring omission to leave Ke Huy Quan off the list.. I know some don't like him, but IMHO Short Round is one of the best parts of IJATTOD

Also, Dante Basco deserves a shout out for his iconic Rufio in Steven Spielberg's HOOK IMHO

Man, The Bicycle Thief. That movie fucked me up when I was a kid. I watched it pretty young and I was very much heart-broken. If my parents were knowledgeable about movies I'd think they had this planned. Because after that I've had this huge feeling of guilt whenever I'd want to pester them about buying me something. I'd think: "What if we're actually poor and I don't know it and whenever I ask them for something they get sad and cry because they can't afford it?" That movie messed me up.

My mom took me to TBT as part of a broader effort to educate me about film. It's a pretty powerful movie and always stuck with me

I think I may have been referencing the sequel in my imagination there. Y'know, the one where Ripley, Newt, Hicks and Half-Bishop set up shop as exterminators-for-hire.
