The first look at Captain America's sidekick premieres in a French magazine. That doesn't seem fair.

Older, darker Bucky jives well with what Brubaker has been doing with the character for the last six years or so. That's fine by me, the idea of a child tagging along into the battlefields of WWII wouldn't translate well to screen.

Seriously, was anyone expecting kid Bucky? It will be a bit old school but not that much.

As great as a lot of what's come out CAPTAIN AMERICA-wise so far has looked, this might be my favourite* shot so far. Now GIVE US THE RUDDY TRAILER, WILL YOU??

*besides shirtless Evans of course *mancrush*

I was not actually expecting kid Bucky, I just wanted to wax poetic about his being representative of youth in wartime.

So, I take then he'll be more "partner" than "sidekick"? I can live with that, sure. I'm sure there'll still be some implied seniority when it comes to Cap, so it won't be perceived like they're an out-and-out duo.

Speaking of grimmer, I don't remember seeing this image before, but I found it clicking through the link...

I'm loosening up on this film, though I still feel that people citing a decade old effort from Johnston as proof that this will work is pretty wrong-headed. I can only hope that the shared universe stuff isn't as horrifically glaring as what was in Iron Man 2 and to a sometwhat lesser extent, The Incredible Hulk. Out of all the superhero films that will be released this summer, Captain America currently appears to be the one with most of its shit together, certainly moreso than Green Lantern, which in my mind, should give the WB cause to brace themselves for head on collision into disappointment.

Is there any talk about showing the trailer during the Super Bowl. It seems like the perfect place to debut it.

They can't show a trailer during the superbowl because it would cost them a billion dollars. They are showing a 30 second tv spot, though.
