So I've noticed via search that CHUD has covered a few stories about director Koen Mortier's newest exploits.  He's directing a Palahniuk adaptation (Haunted) and his slow-mo trailer for 22nd of May is downright beautiful.

But not much has been said about his first feature (and downright masterpiece), EX DRUMMER.  Unless I completely missed something on the searches I did.  Anyway...

Has anyone seen this damn thing?  It takes the world of punk and presents it as violently, darkly hilarious, and completely immoral as you can imagine.  It hates everything and everyone and doesn't really give a shit.  And it just so happens to be brilliantly directed.  After the first 5 and a half minutes passed by (which includes an opening credits sequence that made my jaw drop), I was sure I'd love everything that happened from there on out.  And I did.  Now I'm not that much of a punk rock type guy or into the whole scene, so don't be dissuaded if you're thinking "oh well punk isn't my scene."  If anything I've said thus far sounds even remotely like something you'd like, check this out.

And on top of that, the soundtrack is incredible.

Mortier is absolutely a director to look out for.  I can't wait to see 22nd of May and anything else he ever makes.
