SUPER BOWL TRAILER: TRANSFORMERS 3

Even more epicer blowings up!

Some of the action looks a lot better in how the camera actually seems to be aware of more than jerky movements, but it still looks like slow-mo overkill and Bay has not lost his bad habits with female leads, it would seem.

I liked what I saw, but I liked what I saw in the trailers for the second film, too. Shit still tastes bad, so we'll see.

Ha!  I'll be right there in line for this garbage!

The action looks nifty. Too bad there'll be over two hours of horrible, insulting idiocy surrounding it.

Aren't superbowl trailers usually longer than this year's batch?

Finally a...Transformative Trailer airs during the Superbowl!  Transformers 3 in 3D with the...Rosie by another name, looks...Awe-Inspiring, and All Kinds Of Awesome!

I echo this 100%, Loved the first film and strongly disliked the second. Nice superbowl bit but those have been good in the past.

All that being said the scope on some of the city shots is just jaw dropping. Finish it strong Michael.

No matter how slick this looks, I'm gonna need trustworthy people to personally put their credibility on the line for me to pay for this. My left eye still hurts after being poked at for two hours by Bay's cock during the second movie.

And in 3D this time.

Let's not kid ourselves. Shit or not, chances are most of us are going to end up seeing this anyway.

bah, I'll admit to being the beaten house wife of this series. No matter how many bruises i get, I'm still comin back for more.....i mean, he loves me right? if we try hard enough he'll change...

You are not worthy of love, you useless whore. Just be happy he puts a roof over your head and only beats you when you deserve it.

Oh I always deserve it. It just shows how much he really loves me by waiting till I really mess up, like having dinner out and ready at 6:01 instead of 6, or for getting the wrong kind of beer nuts for the game.

Like and proudly own the first. Fucking despised every hateful minute of Revenge of the Fallen. If I find out Spielberg stepped in to pull Bay's leash like he did on the first one, he might have me in the seat for this.

I've got the blu ray for Revenge of the Fallen sitting around at home and I still haven't gotten around to watching it.  Some may say this is a good thing, but I'm going to have to give in to it eventually.  Having been thus far spared, I must admit that this looks at least somewhat promising.  I saw a trailer in front of The Mechanic but this little spot shows a bit more of the meat of the flick, and some of the destruction on hand and hinted at looks pretty good.  Hopefully Bay follows through and is able to win back some of the audience.  Time will tell.  I'm not a Bay apalogist by any means, but sometimes, for me at least, I really love his brand of SLICK/BIG/LOUD.

For me, I think Bay is everything that's wrong with his brand of filmmaking, which is perhaps the shallowest, lowest-common-denominator form of entertainment available, but different strokes, right?

Also, gotta love that shot of his new "It Girl" with a "Deeeerrrrp" expression on her face, all clean and pretty, as everything in the background is exploding.

Little gentleman that lives in my house garantees I'll see this. (That is, if his grades through his two trimesters are up to par)

Wow, am I the only person here who only suffered through the first film and hasn't seen the second?

What the hell is wrong with you guys? I love and respect many of you so all I can assume is there's some kind of Jim Jones-style brainwashing going on by Michael Bay.

You are not, my friend. And the fact that there are people who give the first movie a pass and then proclaim to be "shocked" at how bad the sequel is boggles my mind.

The trailer isn't bad, but I was jazzed up about ROTF too when their trailer hit, and it turned out to be a giant turd in the end. Besides, no matter how good the trailer is, Bay can keep some of the most ridiculous things hidden until we see the movie (like those giants balls on Devastator). I'm also not completely sold on that Victoria Secret model who is replacing Megan Fox, either; she couldn't even get the acting of being shocked right in the trailer.

I just wonder how many times the guy can turkey slap people before they stop giving him their money.

Amen to Rain Dog and Zak. And for the record, I saw the first one for free, knowing it was probably going to suck. Surprise! It did! Though I admit that I was taken aback by just how profoundly and insultingly it managed to suck. As overplayed as the meme is, that was some Idiocracy shit right there.

And then to hear people who liked the first one talking about how disappointing the second one was...you have to wonder just how many spontaneous miscarriages it has to trigger to achieve that.

Seriously, the first film would have to be one of the dumbest two hours I've spent with a movie. I literally felt punch drunk, like I had brain damage, by the end.

I implore you, RD... don't EVER watch the 2nd movie.  Your head would explode.  Now, as for me... my large noggin comes with stupidity absorbing crumple zones.  That's why I can actually admit to digging the attack on humanity that is the 2nd movie.  I definitely prefer it to the "boringly" bad first movie.

Thanks nooj - you're like chuds loveable crash test dummy for teh stupid.

I'm convinced that if I got my hands on some of those glasses William Castle used for the original 13 Ghosts, and watched Transformers 2 through them I'd see Michael Bay laughing and giving me the finger for 2 hours and 40 minutes.

The second film went for almost three hours?!?!?! Really???

The official runtime according to the wiki is 150 minutes. It feels like more.

If ever was the case to be made for the power of pacing...

The 2nd movie is only a few minutes longer than the 1st.  Both are overlong.  But the 2nd one has no pacing at all.  Hahahahahah

People commenting in this thread who will never see this are like Christian fundamentalists that will never see The Kids Are All Right their opinions mean little open minded viewers are welcome close minded elitists are not. Have at The Kings Speech and The Green Hornet!

Sorry, when it comes to Bay's ouvre I'll happily cop to being Sir Snobby McNarrow-of-Mind of the Academy of Elitists.

I'll leave you gentlemen to your ditch sticking berries up your noses. Good day.

I've seen all of Bay's films except the BAD BOYS ones. Love THE ROCK unashamedly. Unexpectedly enjoyed the hell out of the first TRANSFORMERS. But the second TRANSFORMERS is cinematic intestinal cramps, without the relief of release.

Pish posh, Rain Dog, why I never.

I absolutely love the idea of somebody approaching Capt. Monocle there and asking for his autograph.

I'm one of the perverts who likes Transformers a lot. Not the second one. I didn't pay to see that shit. I would have, but you know - writer's strike, Michael Bay locked in a cabin by himself, all that. I eventually saw parts of it at my sister's house. I like the fact that the final battle in the desert is like a fucking hour long. Not that I would enjoy having to endure that in the theater or anything. But we played a game of Monopoly and those robots were still blowing up mud-brick villages.

So is this new trailer super-effective? Will Bay successfully get me to pony up this time?

Yeeeeeeeeeah. That shot of Chicago under attack by a massive fleet of space robots is on a ridiculous level of epicness.

On the other hand: this could be Pearl Harbor with the Meth Bots.

Also, that new girl's face is about as attractive as Megan Fox's thumbs.

The first TRANSFORMERS is fun.  Although 20 minutes too long.  The second is horrific.  Even Bay doesn't like it.  Although he may just be saying that to get back in with the geeks.

This seems to be going back to the tone of the first.  We'll see.

see, I like to think that after seeing the second one, Spielberg dragged Bay into his underground lair and had him beaten and forced to rewatch it over and over while saying 'never again...never again'

also, the first one was great.

I wouldn't go as far as to claim that the first Transformers was great. What it definitely was however, was about 500% less soulcrushingly malevolent than the second.

If these movies were girls the first one would be really hot looking, kind of fun to be around but completely shallow and airheaded. The second one would be less hot, a mean drunk at parties and a regular poster at Stormfront.

I would take Crypto Analyst girl from the first film over Megan Fox anyday.

I don't get the love for the first Transformers, either.  It's only distinction for me was being a little less insultingly stupid as the second one, with the same blank-eyed performances from its leads and action that still had the same tired, drawn-out approach.

At least Michael Bay wasn't as pornographic with Megan Fox and the plot wasn't nearly as hopelessly convoluted for what's supposedly mindless action, but that's about it.  Oh, and the robots didn't seem like they were conforming to easy stereotypes for target demographics, so there's something else.

I would agree with what one of my favorite reviewers said about the film:

Quote:
Because that's the only goddamn trick in Michael Bay's book: beat the audience insensate, and then count on enough of them assuming that making it all the way to the end and being mostly dazed in the process is the same as "enjoying" it. That doesn't make a movie, it makes a workout. There's just too much crap being flung at the wall, some of it sticking, some of falling, some of it bouncing back, most of it dropping in mid-air and falling with a squishy plop sound.

I approve of this analogy. And, again, there's enough of Spielberg in the first film's character setup to provide a solid foundation for the silliness and giant robot bashing that's built on top of it. The second film is built on its own self-importance, and military fellation and fuck all else. Said military fellation reduces the giant robot bashing everyone came to see in the first place to incoherent 10 second clusterfucks, which, for all Michael Bay's flaws, is a problem he never had until that film.

Yes, we snobs love our Seth Rogen movies.

The first one was so terrible I had no desire to see a second. By all accounts, that too is terrible, even more so if such a thing is truly possible. I feel fairly safe in guessing this will be fucking awful too and can only pray for the audience's sake that the opening credits have a Max Headroom-style 'blipverts' effect and ends their suffering quickly.

That's where I go even weirder... I found most of the robot action in the first movie to be pretty underwhelming.  And really, the only reason I can even say that I enjoyed the 2nd movie more is because of Optimus' fight in the woods (in IMAX, which looked fantastic).  If not for that, I would completely agree with you.  The blatant military fellation is one of the reasons I actually got such a huge disdainful kick out of the movie.

Bay putting down the 2nd movie is BS.  He's just trying to talk up the next movie.  Revenge of the Fallen is Bay at his most 'pure'... filtered through nothing.  The Autobot Twins were his favorite characters!  He actually says this in the documentary on the blu-ray (which is very well put together).  And now he's saying he's going to tone them down.  Make up your mind, Bay!

That would be Bad Boys II. I'd actually say, Revenge of the Fallen is "pure" Bay filtered through a PG-13.

Which actually makes it that much more hateful and pure, oddly enough.

I will always be amazed by the hatred over...Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen. I love the end of the film when Optimus Prime combined with Jetfire, to become Superoptimus! Also, Shia standing next to Optimus on the deck of the aircraft carrier is...Awe-Inspiring! Michael Bay, is one of my favorite directors. The only films of his I didn't like were...Armageddon, Pearl Harbor (there was no need for the love triangle) and the one with Scarlett Johansson. Transformers+Bayhem+3D, is just going to be an...Awesome Epic, even with the, Rosie By another name, replacing Foxy Megan!

To be fair, there are plenty of actresses in Hollywood who get by with tits & ass and no talent.  Megan Fox would be doing late night softcore "thrillers" on CINEMAX by now if it wasn't for her being cast in TF.

That 30 seconds was already a much better movie then Transformers 2. I'm another one of those who likes the first movie but got mind raped by the 2nd movie. But honestly I'm really only looking forward to this for the soundtrack.

It's better than both Transformers movies, being at least 2 and a half hours shorter than them.

The Rain Dog, Oh...Come on now. The Transformers films get way too much negative press. I think that...Transformers 3 in 3D could be the...Best Transformers film! No awards will be coming for it though. It is likely too good for the academy to nominate.

The Academy of Motion Pictures, should really change it's name. The Academy of some pictures we like. Superheroes, Super Robots, Action Extravaganzas, need not apply. When Best Director gets listed, all on the list will pale to the great amount of...Bayhem, in Michael Bay's Excellent films. Best film of 2010 is...Easilly, The Expendables, and not a nomination for Best Picture or Director. Instead a...Remake of True Grit, will likely win. The Coen Bros best director? Yawn. The only film I like that was nominated was...Iron Man 2, for SFX.

fleed, I always considered Jetfire + Optimus to be Powermaster Prime, myself.

I'm also one who enjoyed the first movie.  I was amazed by the ridiculousness on display in part 2, and haven't bothered revisiting it.  But like any good geek with no self-respect, I'll be in line to see this third one, if only to see what the hell is up with Optimus having wings.
