Poet-activist Audre Lorde once said, “There are no new ideas. There are only new ways of making them felt.” Even this itself was not an original sentiment, as creators and critics in every artistic medium have felt that way for quite some time. Now a chap named Kirby Ferguson is doing a nifty little four-part video series called Everything is a Remix, which illustrates how our art and entertainment are recycle from existing influences, or “remixed.” Part 1 was about music, focusing largely on Led Zeppelin. Now Ferguson has dropped Part 2, which is about movies and focuses largely on Star Wars.

Ferguson certainly doesn’t break any new ground here, but the video is very well put together and it’s nonetheless fun watching him lay it all out with side-by-side clip comparisons. Though, frankly, I would have much rather he focused on Avatar, which gets just a cursory glance. Make sure to stick around through the credits for a bit on Kill Bill.

Feast!
