Joel and Ethan to make a horror movie?

wonder what their idea of a horror film is. Remember PTA finds There Will Be Blood to be a horror film.

I had never really considered whether they'd be good at horror until the Dybbuk scene in A Serious Man. Suddenly it didn't seem too far fetched.

I approve of this idea. Oh god, just had another thought...Roger Deakins shooting a Coen Bros horror movie...

I love this idea.  I'm thinking of tons of great moments in their filmography that just ooze terror and menace (Hedeya buried alive in Blood Simple, Goodman's rampage at the end of Barton Fink, just about every one of Bardem's scenes in No Country) and I can't help but get excited for what a horror movie from the Coen Brothers could entail.

If this happens I will come in other people's pants, not just my own.

I genuinely do too, always have. Movie scares the shit out of me, makes me uncomfortable when I watch it alone (which I love).

This could be very rock and roll, but I just can't get excited when filmmakers talk about the half-dozen scripts they've got floating around. It could very well be 10 years before they get to this.

Yeah, I came here to say that I'd count Serious Man as a horror movie. Scared me more than any of the Saw movies, that's for sure.

Oh, if only we ran our own Video Rental shop, eh?

"Uh, I can't seem to find Saw I-VII anywhere?"

"Well that's because you're in horror. Saw is over there in Comedy."

Barton Fink is just about straight up horror, in my opinion.   I mean, an entire plot point revolves around a possible severed head in a box and his only friend is a vicious serial killer.

Even more tantalizing:  would they re-collaborate with Sam Raimi again for this horror film?

I've always considered that movie kind of American neo-giallo.

Yes, also M. Emmet Walsh reaching for McDormand at the end of Blood Simple. And the claustrophobic intensity of the "always put one in the brain" sequence in Miller's Crossing. And the casually horrific absurdity of the leg sticking out the woodchipper in Fargo.

Always thought these guys would make a fucking GREAT horror film if they ever decided to do one.

Totally. There are also some seriously terrifying moments in No Country For Old Men with Chigurhs seemingly unstoppable hunting of Llewelyn. Going full blown horror seems like a natural progression for those magnificent brothers.

I'd never really want the Coens to do a sequel really, but I'd like to hear more about this Old Fink business.

As for the horror film? Bring it.

Maybe they are doing Evil Dead IV with Raimi, haha.  (Part of me wishes I wasn't kidding!)

Even if a horror film isn't their next project, I'm glad that they are confident enough that they will make one someday to the point that they are talking about it in the press.  From what I have read, they had at least two other scripts that could end up being their next film..........................one being the "folk music-oriented 1960s NYC" project they mentioned a week or two ago..............and the other being an adaptation of The Yiddish Policeman's Union.

I'm up for absolutely anything that the brothers want to through at me, especially if it continues to be on a yearly basis.  That said, I would be lying if I didn't want the horror project to get made first!
