One of my all-time favorite lines.

Great movie, as you say Caine and Martin have perfect chemistry in this film and it's well worth watching if you havent seen it.

Really one of my favorite comedies. Steve Martin both as Ruprecht and as the crippled soldier gets to do some marvelous physical comedy. When I first saw this movie, I nearly passed out from laughing during the scene where Caine whips Martin's legs. I still can't help but laugh when I think about it. And Caine is an equal foil.

Agreed, Caine has just as many great moments as Martin in this. The Scene where Martin tries to trick the soliders into kidnapping Caine being one of them.

I love the double whammy joke where first you think Martin has won over the soldiers, after Caine abandoned him with them (which is funny), then they reveal that Martin's hand has been glued to the wall (even funnier). Gold.

Dammit, I'm laughing out loud just thinking about it. Especially the way Martin just hangs his head after they leave. I guess I've found the next movie I'm watching.

Hands down one of the best bits in the film. That at the Ruprecht montage.

To this day, whenever I hear someone refer to Oklahoma, I can't help but blurt out "OKLAHOMAOKLAHOMAOKLAHOMA!", Ruprecht-style.

I do the EXACT same thing. And I have a friend who always sings part of a song from the musical Oklahoma whenever he hears the word "Oklahoma," so when we're together we're potentially the most annoying duo in the world. A landmine of obnoxious referencing waiting to happen.

Add me to that list.

My favorite part is the "he's so happy, he's crying" part. I was able to see the Broadway production, and when the Jamieson character winds up for that final whack across his leg, with Freddy in the wheelchair situated all the way stage left, Jamieson runs off stage right, starts his wind up with a yell, which is muffled for a few seconds (as if he is even further away) before he even appears on stage. He does a few pirouettes on the way across stage towards Freddy, and gives him the greatest whack ever. They managed to add something extra to this already hilarious scene.
