RED SONJA RIDES AGAIN

Well I guess its true no man can touch her then. 

A little while ago I read an interview with Rose McGowan where she said she was still interested in playing the character, but the studio was all about waiting to see how the Conan remake (and apparently that's what it is) is going to do. I do hope she got the bad news in between then and today.

I kind of like Red Sonja, I was even a fan of the Neilsen version when I was a kid and had no taste, but I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I don't think filmmakers know how to make R.E.H type, "sword and sorcery" movies today (and as McGowan  sort of intimated, studios are probably not too confident that the audience is there).

I'd be well up for this but Simon West? The man who said he wanted to create the first 'post-plot film' when he was making Tomb Raider?

Ugh.

Better him than Dominic Sena, I guess...

Rene (Mr.Eko), I understand you will...Brook, no replacement for your, Kelly Girl, but after realizing, that  Amber, whom will make us...Drive Angry (Shot in...3D) soon, why not have her be Red Sonja?  She...IS, a...Well Rounded actress, that should fill out that chain mail bikini.

I really liked the idea of Robert Rodriguez directing this. Most genre filmmakers these days are lacking in balls, and that's what you need for an over-the-top character like this. Say what you want about Rodriguez, but he's willing to embrace the corny, over-the-top, and exploitative, and he makes fun movies. Red Sonja pretty much embodies 70s comic fantasy.

Simon West, as has been pointed out, bungled a character as straightforward as Lara Croft. Red Sonja doesn't exactly require a master craftsman to get right, but I don't have much faith in West.

From Rodgriguez to West? Even for someone not as in love with Rodriguez as most that is one big downgrade. I'd love to see my goto guy for cool B action, Neil Marshall get on it. 

Stelios, You're right, Rodriguez to West is a downgrade, but I will still see this.  If Amber Heard is, Red Sonja, that would be...Perfect Casting!  Also, with the producer of the new...Conan, on Sonja, I believe the film will be R Rated as well as 3D!  West failed with the pg 13 Tomb Raider, but he could hit a...Home Run  with Red Sonja, by going all the way and an R Rating.  West's current film was just...Awesome, so I have hopes he can direct an...Epic, sword and sorcery film as well.

Any new Red Sonja is good news. I have a soft spot for the first film dispite the fact it's not all that great.
