Noam Murro? How many people said no for that to happen?

I now I did, at least.

All this *and* SKIP WOODS??

You're too good to us, Fox!

As long as the opening credits play over Mary Elizabeth Winstead soaping her naked body in the shower, I'll go with it.

And let's face it, there's no reason it can't, or shouldn't.

Unlike many folks here, I found Live Free to be watchable and mostly harmless.  Can't entirely hate a movie that has Maggie Q, Olyphant and Winstead in it.  As geriatric, once-great action franchises go, it's not the worst Part 4 ever (not naming names!).

However, this new one is suspect.  Noam Murro sounds like a creature that hangs out at the Mos Eisley cantina.

Same here.  I would certainly consider Live Free to be the worst entry in the series, but on the whole it really isn't that bad.  I just wish Bruce had actually given a shit about playing his iconic role again and that they had given Timothy Olyphant more to work with as the villain.

As for who turned it down?  Well they couldn't keep the "McTiernan directs the odd-numbered ones" going, that's for sure.  Also, I am guessing that either Len Wiseman turned them down or had a scheduling conflict, considering Willis seemed deadset on getting him back only a few months ago.  The real question is when is this sucker going to hit theaters?  Looking at Bruno's schedule, I'm guessing summer 2013.....................which is odd considering they just hired a director.  The only way Die Hard 5 will see release in 2012 is if The Expendables 2 doesn't film this year.

Here's Bruno's current line-up:

Catch .44 (2011) (Completed)

The Cold Light of Day (2011) (Post-Production)

Set-Up (2011) (Filming)

Looper (2012) (Filming soon)

Lay The Favorite (2012) (Pre-Production)

The Expendables 2 (2012?) (Pre-Production)

I haven't seen Smart People, but I really like Murro's commercial work. He couldn't possibly be worse than Wiseman.

Had I be in the creative chair at Fox for DIE HARD 5.

Here's my list:

Kathryn Bigelow as director.

Eric Red as screenwriter.

Make the return co-starring role of Bruno's hair. *Notice when he had hair in the Die Hard(s) - they were enjoyable romps. No baldness on my watch.

Have an African American side-kick. *Justin Long fucked up the rotation.

Make it R rated.

Fucking box office bank!  Holla back.

I saw Smart People.  I remember literally nothing about Smart People.  Completely unremarkable.
