A movie is definitely not the format for this. A miniseries would rock, though. It could be really inventive and original.

 

And yeah, Emmerich is sure to botch this, even though there's a slight glimmer of hope in his "not too big a budget" statement. I'd like to believe that if the script was good he might just do a decent point-and-shoot job, but I doubt it. It's going to be Will Smith leaping into an exploding computer while screaming "Get offa my car!!!!"
