I have got to get the fuck out of this state.

Seriously, as someone on the other side of the world who'd been hearing about this state a lot lately - and all of it is fucking terrible news - what the fuck is up with Arizona???

As someone who lived there for 27 years the only thing that surprises me is that it took this long for the rest of the world to notice.

They played the 911 call of this on a local morning radio show recently. The mom is actually have a gun fight with the intruders while on the phone.

The part where the little girl asked the woman not to shoot her, followed by the woman popping her twice in the head, is pretty much the worst thing I've ever heard (from the mother's testimony, not the 911 call). There's a moral argument to be had against the death penalty, but with that kind of evil, it doesn't feel like anything else would be fair.

I don't know, if a person really hates immigrants that much life in an Arizona prison sounds like the most appropriate punishment possible.

I don't get it. At all.

The far right is trying to use immigration as a lightning rod to gather some support over here, in vain thankfully. There are these posters going around over here that pretty succinctly set this matter. They say: "My grandparents were refugees. My parents were immigrants. And I'm a racist?" How cool would it be, living in a world where people use their fucking brains for a change?

Again, how in *fuck* are the Democrats not beating the Republicans to death with this story?

Seriously, that's all I could put it down to - at a certain point 'incompetence' doesn't cover it unless every democrat has serious head injuries - there simply has to be something else in play that makes them keep letting shit like this slide like they do.

I suppose I'm generally more of a 'let them rot and destroy themselves psychologically from within jail cells', but that may fall under cruel and unusual. This does, too, I guess. But man, fuck this woman.

I don't think she shot the kid, I thought it was a guy.

Cases like this make me question my opposition to the death penalty though.
