I've been wondering the same thing.  Folks, I'm all for civil discussions with those whom disagree with you.  I think it's important, and we need more of it.  But some people are incapable of amending and reformulating their views based on data and arguments that undermine them.  Snaieke is, in certain ways, broken; and engaging him is not going to benefit him or you.

There was a report being done and the Gov who you seem to sort of be supporting didn't bother for the report to be done.

He vote against the best interest of the state he's supposed to represent, this seems to be recurring theme in today's Republican party.

I think it's a bit like when the kids of South Park realised they could ignore Cartman - up to that point some just didn't realise it was an option. I've happily had the dickhead blocked for years.

I would put him on ignore, but for it to work I'd have to have 'remember me' set for every computer that I browse the boards on.  And given CHUD's history with ads, I'm a little leery of blindly accepting any cookies.

Ah, the good old days, when I could put people on ignore.

A mod is supposed to know what goes on on the boards. Sadly, at least for me, that means that you can't put anyone on ignore.

I didn't think i could love Stephen King any more than I already do, but he joined a protest in Sarasota FL against Rick Scott's eye-gouging budget cuts:

Wow, Michigan.  It's amazing to me that this governor would even float what Snyder's trying to accomplish.  What he's proposing is a monarchical model wherein he can appoint regional bosses or corporations to basically fire the elected local governments and dissolve local government contracts.  A) it can't be legal; and B) how can any Michigander, regardless of political party, stand for that?

When I heard about this, the first thought in my mind is that this bill would violate our right to a republican government.  But yeah, this is troubling.

When I first heard about the plan in Michigan, my first thought was the GOP has no business saying their for Freedom and Liberty.

So, it turns out that there's a beautiful beach in Benton Harbor, Michigan, that was willed to the people of Benton Harbor by a prominent family.  Governor Snyder and his cronies covet this beach and have plans to turn it into a luxury golf course with dues of $5k a year.  Hence, Benton Harbor, Michigan, has become ground zero for Snyder's "economic martial law" -- as in, he's sent in a private financial manager (trained by lobbyists) to shut down local government, dissolve all its contracts, and reorganize the town to best suit the financial well-being of Snyder's donors and cronies.

Based on everything I've been seeing, these Republican governors (Snyder, Walker, Scott, Kasich, etc.) are grifters, con men and thieves who don't give two s***s about the concept of representative democracy.

That report on Rachel Maddow last night was anger-inducing. What's more amazing is that this is going on and hardly anyone else is reporting on it. Liberal or conservative, it's troubling that anyone would be usurping local government so brashly. I mean, if the local gov't were all crooks I'd be okay with it, but this seems coldly calculated as an unlawful corporate takeover of public and private property.
