The mop they've got framing his face doesn't do him any favors. There are some bad hair extension moments going on in a few of those shots, like most of them.

Saw the trailer a little while ago. AWESOME. Looking like a good popcorn movie with some decent comedy in it. I hope there's lots of silly moments where Thor realizes he likes stuff, like the coffee.

As for the whole Kat Denning thing, she does seem like she'll be a high point, but I'm not seeing the problem there. Plenty of good movies have small roles that manage to steal the show; it doesn't take away from the movie they're in. (Airplane! is still a great movie, despite the fact that Johnny the Air Traffic Controller is one of its funniest characters.) Hell, I'll bet there's a thread somewhere here just about those kinds of roles.

 

Besides, I thought Hemsworth and Portman looked like they know the tone the movie's going for. I especially like the way Portman says, "I think he said his name was... 'Thor?'"

 

I actually really liked that as well.  Portman can be iffy with comedy but she really nailed that.  Good touch.   I kind of like that these two girls find him to be a big (if handsome) weirdo, instead of being all enamored with him right off the bat.

I wouldn't be surprised if the trailer is hiding how he gets the clothes.  Maybe he's actually naked and Skarsgard throws him something to cover up.  I didn't look too closely, but could he just be wearing a tunic/pants combo that would  realistically be under his armor?  Or is he actually wearing jeans?

I don't see it immediately.  Hemsworth's bulk is throwing me off.  But once you point it out, I kinda get a Patriot-era Ledger vibe from him.

Maybe the tshirt's the 'mortal' equivalent of whatever he wore underneath the armor. He's definitely wearing something under the armor in the first trailer when Odin casts him out. As for the pants, those might be authentic ASGARDIAN SLACKS!

Yeah, the funny thing is, that joke shouldn't work for me. I've known three guys in real life whose name is Thor. I get that most people think that's an unusual name, though.

He's definitely wearing a different shirt in that scene from the first trailer.  The "This is Earth, isn't it?" scene in the first trailer had a looser fitting, pale greensih top.  Almost looks like a hospital gown or something.  Very different to the second trailer.  They said there were reshoots - wonder if the entire "diuscovering Thor" scene got redone for some reason?

That might not be the same scene. It looks like Thor might escape the hospital in his hospital gown and somehow find his way back to his etched-out 'landing site'.

  I like that the trailer focus on the comedy and people's reactions to Thor. I got the vibe there will be big set pieces without knowing everything that happens in them. Like the Captain America trailer, I know I haven't seen the best parts yet.

Of the love of, Kat Dennings in THOR...I Say Thee Nay!  She, is the...worst part of the trailer.  THOR, smiting, EEEEEEEEEvil Frost Giants, and battling LOKI, are...Awesome!  THOR and Jane, THOR, tossing S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents as if they were rag dolls, is equally Awesome!  The scene with smashing the coffee cup to the floor in the diner, because it was great coffee was very cool indeed.  I cannot wait for this film, but I wouldn't mind seeing a Frost Giant...Eating Kat Dennings for lunch as well.

I can't believe how much I'm looking forward to this. On top of all the "Thor SMASH!" stuff, which I was really hoping would be cool and so far looks great, and on top of the humor which is an unexpected delight, and the Destroyer which surprisingly doesn't look shitty, and Natalie Portman who surprisingly doesn't sound shitty, I just can barely believe that we also get to see a seventy-year-old-plus Anthony Hopkins in a funny hat fuckin' shit up.

BruceL, I am sad to see you find the...ODINhat funny.  Remember everything ODIN does is preceeded by his name.  Thusly...ODINsleep, ODINFRIGGA, and finally the...ODINSWORD!  To me, Anthony Hopkins as ODIN in full Battle Armor is just...EPIC and Awe-Inspiring!

Duke, I haven't been clear... when I use the word "funny", I'm actually referring to ODINhat as "awesome." I'm completely on board with this movie.

BruceL, I was not...Totally serious.  I was just commenting on  your referring to the, ODINHAT as Funny, which is usually not a positive, unless discussing comedy.  I realize that you are quite excited for...Thor!  May 6th cannot arrive soon...enow!, for me!
