Totally. It was really important for me to convey that - when you're treated to the image as it was composed - the fight chorerography is very slick, and the imagery is really fantastic.
At the same time, I think that one of the things I might not have gotten across is how hilariously over-the-top gory the film is. More than many of Chang Cheh's previous efforts - and much more than most martial adventures. Certainly, the gore - and the techiniques used to accomplish it - was used all the time - but in this film it's just absurd. When the villain meets his end, it's like some displaced outtake from an early Peter Jackson film. It is legitmate spatter, and it's awesome and hilarious.
