CHUD: 2011 OSCARS THREAD - Animated Feature Film

I'm desperate for an Illusionist win here, it's just an amazing, soulful piece of work. It's probably one of my favourite films of last year. I think however that How To Train Your Dragon might snatch this one. 

How To Train Your Dragon was the surprise film of the year for me. I instantly fell in love with it. Having said that, this is going to Toy Story 3. It's Pixar and Hanks and Lasseter are on the Board of Governors.

I'd love for Dragon to win.  I would be happy with The Illusionist winning.  I don't want Toy Story to win.

I never get what I want.

My heart wants The Illusionist to win. My brain wants Dragon to win. Toy Story *will* win.

Sigh.

I feel like I should watch HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON now.

Basically the flip side of how I feel.

I freaking loved Toy Story 3--really! I did!--but Dragon was a grand slam for me. They might never do it again, but this year Dreamworks out Pixar'd Pixar, and it'd be cool if they got the recognition for it. 

And maybe, just maybe, to give Sanders and DeBois a chance to one-up the studio that shunted them and turned what could have been a crazy, subversive film (American Dog) into a much more kiddie and by the numbers cartoon (Bolt).

I will be genuinely stunned if Pixar doesn't pick this up.  I haven't seen Illusionist, so I can't speak to that film's merits, but I think that Toy Story 3 has this.  Dragon's fun, but it's won't win.
