For sheer "WTF??", the Saturns are always hard to beat. While there's the usual oddments ("KIck-Ass" is a "Horror/Thriller" film? "Breaking Bad" and "The Closer" are "genre" TV series?), this year's real headscratcher is Christian Bale's nomination: I'll grant you that boxing movies are, I guess, a genre, but so are rom-coms and British triumph-over-adversity Oscar-bait movies; honestly, I always thought the purpose of giving "genre" awards was to acknowledge well-made material outside the mainstream.
