It's back, and scarier than ever.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. I know it's called show business, but the corporate-speak here is fucking noxious. McBlade Runner.

No Renn you're hatred just about covers it for me.

I've become pretty immune and jaded to modern Hollywood, but they're fuckin with my favorite here. This shit will not stand.

This aggression will not stand, man.

I'm not too bothered, I mean Blade Runner strayed considerably from the source material. If a remake is done to be closer to the novel, I don't see it that as really that horrible of an idea.

Aren't there like 4 different cuts of this movie available on various formats?  I dunno, that kinda kills the "sacred" aspect of it for me.  PLUS, again, and I don't wanna be "that guy," but the original isn't going anywhere, you guys.  And this isn't like some obscure foreign film (LET THE RIGHT ONE IN) that's gonna become less visible because of whatever new thing they produce.  It's fuckin' BLADE RUNNER.  But that's just me.

It's funny; I'm slightly unhinged in my love of BLADE RUNNER, and this news doesn't bother me at all. I guess it's because Charlie L was able to finally do what he was born to do, which was to create the greatest collection of supplements ever made for a movie, for this movie. Plus the BD is so beautiful, and the Final Cut edit is fine. The original BLADE RUNNER is safe.

So franchise away. Perhaps, and this is a long long shot, something cool will come out of it.

I wanna feed the Alcon CEOs their own assholes. That is all.

That sounds like what one would say about a potential sequel to TRON...oh wait.

Fuck YOU Hollywood.

Shia LeBeuf for Rick Deckard! Or maybe Ashton Kutcher!

Not likely.  LaBeouf isn't doing too well lately.  Outside of Transformers and Indy, he hasn't really had a successful film (Disturbia being the lone exception).  As for Kutcher, his career is WAY too hit-and-miss to have a potential franchise given to him.  These two aren't Hollywood hot stuff anymore..........at least not enough for potential tentpole projects.

I would expect someone equally ridiculous to be touted for the role if this ever gets off the ground though.

Alcon?  No.  Syncopy?  Yes.

I want a Michael Bay remake with a full CGI Dekard who finds out he's a replicant in the opening scene, and then goes on a terminator style rampage to find the other replicants, who are ACTUALLY HIS PROGENY!!!

all while eating a Whopper.

5 billion. sold. boosh.

Just throwing this out there, but if they have to.........Timothy Olyphant as Deckard..........

Get the SciFi channel's Stargate Klingon to lead a replicant slave revolt on some offworld mining colony after he's done playing Conan.  I'd watch it...once it was out on Netflix.

Whatever they make will certainly drop the noir and become a full on action fest.

That's a very valid take and it's not "wrong." But there's also something "real" about things being a little tainted by being turned into a franchise. I mean face it, you can never watch The Matrix in quite the same way again. Whether you like it or not, your experience and perception of the original is colored by knowledge of what they did after. You can't watch it without little flickers of Neo and Smith fighting in the rain or the Burly Brawl dancing around your head.

In a way, both sides are "right." I don't think anyone's out of line or unreasonable for not wanting this to happen. But at the same time, the original IS always there just as you left it*.

*except: fuck you, George Lucas.

I can. Know how? I'll give you two feature length guesses that I still haven't seen...

I'm with BruceL up there. Blade Runner is safe. Godfather is safe. The Exorcist is safe.

Y'all are acting like Soldier never even happened...

So, I take it this isn't a movie based on Blade Runner 2: The Edge of Human?

Ain't like there aren't already sequels to Blade Runner.

You're spot on, Phil. I forgot to put in the all important "will power clause." If you can stick your head in the sand, the original truly is untainted as long as you want it to be*.

*again, this is why: fuck George Lucas. Just give me the goddamn theatricals in HD. pant pant pant. Ok, sorry. Carry on, everyone.
