Some very excellent make-up effects for Captain America's villain.

Looks perfect.

But what's going on with the Hydra stuff in his uniform???

Can't wait to see it in action.  Looks great.

I think in this movie HYDRA is basically the Red Skull's super-secret special group of nazi soldiers.

And the makeup looks really good. I like how they included a DEFORMED EAR.

So I'm the only one who thinks this looks utterly ridiculous? (Granted, I think Captain America is ridiculous anyway, so again... biased.)

In something in which someone named Captain America must fight someone named the Red Skull... it would be disappointing if it wasn't utterly ridiculous!

I think it looks even better than Jake's hair. And that's saying something.

Really, though - it looks great. Visually, I think they've nailed this thing. Here's hoping the story and character parts match the look.

That's a very fair point.

joeypants, The Red Skull, looks like he was ripped out of a...Jack Kirby Captain America comic!  Nothing about that could be ridiculous, as he looks like he should be.  I think The Skull looks...MARVELous, myself!

Hopefully the makeup gives Weaving the freedom to emote, and any CGI is subtle enough to not be distracting.

...in other words, TRAILER PLEASE

this looks fucking AWESOME.

Given how awesome Weaving was as V in V FOR VENDETTA, I have little doubt he will be able to shine through the make-up.

Best literal translation of comic to live action yet, just edging Raimi's Spidey out of first place.

Love it. Can't wait for the movie.

Weavings going to be the best thing about this film by a pretty wide margin really isn't he. God damn I adore that man.

That make up is tits.

To those wondering about the lack of swastikas in the stills we have been given, both Joe Johnston and Kevin Feige have stated on more than one occasion that the Nazis ARE in the film.  It looks like HYDRA will have its beginnings as a Nazi offshoot in the Marvel Filmverse.  Sort of Red Skull's own private little SS, which is fine by me.  Best guess?  He's working for Hitler, but secretly seeking the Tesseract (aka Cosmic Cube) for himself.  The current Avengers cartoon seems to present Red Skull as the founder of HYDRA, with Baron Zemo and Wolfgang von Strucker as his young underlings who eventually take over the organizations after his "death".  I wouldn't be surprised if they do something similar for the films if Cap gets his own solo franchise.

BTW, that picture is fantastic and I can't wait to see Hugo in action!

S.D. Bob Plissken, The only negative thing about, Captain America, being set in...WW2, is that, Sgt. Nicholas Fury, is absent.  There might be...A, Fury, but not Nick.  I do not think that Fury took the Infinity Formula in this current interpretation of the classic character.

Yeah, that's awesome.  Really looking forward to this one, and I really hope that Johnston nails it.  I'd love for him to bring some of the Rocketeer vibe to this project, while at the same time just making an epic period action film.

That's just you Ozzies sticking together.

Seriously, casting Weaving was a great choice and he very well may be the highlight, but I've got my fingers crossed for Chris Evans too.

That sounds good, for a moment I thought they weren't going to make him a Nazi though ...

wow....

That looks fucking Amazing!! I really really can't wait for this movie. Probably my most anticipated of the summer.

Kinda need to see Arnim Zola now.

Arnim Zola is also in this movie?!?!

Now if they can only come up with good excuses to have all these villains still be alive in the modern world ... (Baron Zemo would be good for a sequel ...)

Isn't Toby Jones playing Arnim Zola? One thing this has in common with The Rocketeer-- GREAT cast.

Mixmaster DJ Red Skull has got this shit on lockdown.

Yeah, the only glimpses we have been given of Zola is are of a normal looking Toby Jones.  The real question is whether or not they will leave him that way or at least partially head down the path of how his comic iteration looks....

Damn that's some good makeup. I love the Rocketeer and as others have said this film seems to have a simmilar vibe.

I doubt we'll see Zola in all his glory in CAPTAIN AMERICA, but I hope Marvel studios actually goes for it and lays the groundwork for how Jones' face gets stuck in a giant tv screen.

I was always happy that Hugo Weaving was going to be The Red Skull. I know that his villainy will be perfectly enunciated.
