Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988)

Incredibly funny and charming. This story about various women who find themselves at their wit's end plays out like a fast-paced Neil Simon play, with mounting coincidences and complex relationships but Almodovar is an incredible director of the De Palma school (or, probably, the Hitchcock school) so it never feels stagey.

Accept when it wants to. One of the fun aspects of the movie is how the main character is a soap opera star and how her life is turning into a soap opera, and Almodovar plays with that a lot with a balcony set that looks stagey, miniatures, and an introductory 10 minutes that have such a screamingly formal style they're practically surrealistic.

Couldn't recommend this movie more. Outstandingly funny.

A great film with an awesome script. Young Antonio Banderas along a great cast make it a lot fun.

I always laugh at the weird taxi cab driver. Carmen Maura is really hot in this film.

The Mambo Cab was great. I love how there's eye drops at the end.

And that shot of Lucia on the back of the motorcycle with the wind in her hair was incredible.
