70s Native American Horror

Chewers,

I have a mission for you. I'm looking for an older movie that I saw growing up. It takes place in the Ozark Mountains, possibly Arkansas, and it's about a Native American entity antagonizing a man / people in the wilderness. The horror is more psychological than gruesome, but at this point, it's just flashes of a memory. I cannot recall who starred or directed. I was quite young. I searched for 'Arkansas Horror Films,' and it is not the Legend of Boggy Creek, nor is it The Town That Dreaded Sundown; however, the time period is correct. It is possible that I might be meshing two movies together, but I don't think so.

Any help you could give would be appreciated. I've been racking my brain on this one.

Could it be Scalps?  I remember this one getting some play in Fangoria way back when.

Scalps is not correct, but that sounds awesomely bad enough for me to enjoy, though.

I think it also might have been a period film. I remember horse riding and possibly a Western vibe. I don't really remember any modern technology, at least. I apologize for not including that earlier. Like I said it's all fuzzy and just glimpses.

To recap:

-Possibly made in the 70s-early 80s

-Takes place in a wilderness setting, possibly a mountainous region (characters ride horses)

-Main character is haunted or antagonized by a Native American entity, or from NA lore

Pretty sure you're not talking about The Manitou (you're not, are you?)...

Could it be Eyes of Fire?

Or Shadow of the Hawk? (starring friend of Josey Wales, Chief Dan George)

There's also a tiny subgenre of exploitation thrillers about Native Americans getting revenge on The White Man, but you mentioned that it's some kind Native American "entity" and not human, so that rules them out. To be honest, the Arkansas/Ozarks thing is throwing me off. I think you might be meshing two fims together.

I've looked into Eyes of Fire, Nightwing, Shadow of Chakira and others. I've got nothing! It's probably some crazy mash-up or a dream. Maybe it'll come to me one day.

Some of those fit the description pretty well, but nothing is sticking out as a clear winner.

Good news!

I found the movie. I watched it under the title of Wishbone Cutter, but it's also known as the above mentioned Shadow of Chikara as well as almost 10 other aliases. I researched quite a bit and found these if anyone is interested.

A review, featuring comments from a reporter that confirm it was shot in Marion County, Arkansas (wherever the hell that is):

And the now unavailable cover that I can recall (as it's been reprinted under Curse of Demon Mountain on DVD):

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
