Neko Case is having a charity raffle to benefit the 826 National Foundation (which grew out of San Francisco's "826 Valencia" project), helping students ages 6-18, with expository and creative writing, and supporting schools and teachers in the field. Among other things, the grand prize is Neko's beloved 1967 Cougar (which you can see on the cover of Middle Cyclone).
Sadly, I just learned about this today, which means I've already missed a chance to win some cool stuff, including an Epiphone PR-5E acoustic/electric guitar signed by members of the Speaking Clock Revue including Elton John, Elvis Costello, Ralph Stanley, Leon Russell, and T Bone Burnett... damn!
But we have till Thursday 3/17 for a shot at Neko's Cougar or her 1966 Gretsch “Silver Duke” Guitar, signed by Michael Stipe, Jimmy Fallon, John Wesley Harding, T Bone Burnett, Britt Daniel, and some other folks; a collection of vintage Sub Pop vinyl releases, and a bunch more prizes.
