North Korea to take over invasion duties so Hollywood can hang on to those sweet China dollars.

This might be the greatest/saddest/bizarre/I don't know........ news I ever heard in my entire life involving film.

lol indeed.

Jesus.

AHAHAHAHAHA!

Red Dawn was a badly made, stupid and jingoistic fossil, even in its original incarnation. The continual comedy with the new one only serves to further demostrate this. North Korea invading the US. They should do a sequel too. Have Burkina Faso invade this time.

How was the original badly made?

Why, is Red Dawn suddenly supposed to be an actual good movie? It's a guilty pleasure. And that's only if you're feeling charitable. I'd watch Band Of The Hand twice before wathcing Red Dawn.

Can't believe no one on this film had the common sense to consider the Chinese market beforehand.  Shit, I can't believe they didn't just substitute aliens as the invading force.  Just follow Independence Day's formula: make the villains extra-terrestrials, blow up lots of American landmarks, have an internationally loved American actor punch ET in the face and you have a license to print money.

What's weird is that Homefront just came out, is about invading Koreans, and is written by John Milius.

This actually ups my interest in this film to something approaching "almost." Netflix for sure, anyway.

As long as the "AVENGE MEE!!" scene makes it into the remake, I'm on board for a Netflix watch.

The Jayden Smith Karate Kid film may be the last time we see villianous Chinese in an American movie for a really long time.

They should just change the villains back to what they were in the original movie. That way they can go with the following tagline:

"RED DAWN

Holy shit, I really CAN see Russia from my house."

Wow. I actually think the original film has some merit if for nothing else showing what occupation and guerilla fighting in America could be. Guess thats lost on some.

This is so ripe and amazingly Hollywood in the 21st century. I had a hard time seeing that they put this into production in the first place but watching them do this proves they have no balls or backbone for that matter.

I look forward to seeing the mess.

They should've gone with whole "Islamic Fascist Coalition" idea. Way more realistic and scarier. They may as well team-up with the THQ people and call it "Homefront."

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! NORTH KOREA is INVADING THE US! Christ why not make it crazed inhabitants of Easter Island invading the US? Is Hollywood that stupid, or do they assume the audience is that stupid?

Invading us with what exactly?

Look there really should have never been a remake of the original film but if so North Korea never should have been at the fore front. They could have done better.

Frankly I wasn't very curious about the actors (including Hemsworth) I was more interested in seeing Dan Bradley execute the film.

He's the stunt coordinator of the Bourne films.

They should have just made up a country instead. And I thought China only allowed a certain amount of foreign films on their soil for distribution anyway. Or are we talking about overall relations?

For the sequel they should have Iceland invade China. TWIST!

Overall relations.  China would blacklist everything the studio made once they'd released a movie that villainised the Chinese government.  EA basically got banned from China for years after Red Alert 2, and it took lots of apologies (and probably more than a few bribes) to open those doors up again.

So basically one film every decade or so. Huge loss for that bankrupt company that is MGM.

As has been said elsewhere, wouldn't China see the living shit out of a movie where China invades the US? Lop off the third act and it's China's biggest hit of 2011!
