No more delays, no more bullshit- Jackson's on set and cameras are rolling.

I didn't think these photos would have any effect on me, but Goddamn. Now I know how the STAR WARS nuts felt when the PHANTOM MENACE stuff started leaking.

That first shot of Jackson in the doorway is amazing.

He looks like Dominic Monaghan there.

HOLY LIVING MOTHER OF FUCKING CUNT!!! A FUCKING DOOR!!! CEILING CAT ALMIGHTY!!! IT EVEN HAS A FUCKING HANDLE!!! I CAN'T STOP CUMING!!!

Jackson made better movies when he was fat.

This guy's getting tiring.

C'mon, he did give us yet another priceless Dark Knight fan wank.  One that involves Batman choking the Penguin to death!

"Font discrepancies" made me chuckle.

So true.

Nothing will beat the fanwank that ended with Bruce Wayne angrily leaving Talia Al Ghul to soak alone in their Lazarus Pit jacuzzi.

They're still saying this will be out by next Christmas? Going off their shooting schedule, good luck with that.

Good to see Jackson looking healthy though and this damn thing finally filming.

Great to see The Hobbit finally happening. I've been a big fan of Jackson for a long time, so I'm  remaining cautiously optimistic. Hopefully this will get him out of the rut he's seemed to be in for the last few years.

So I take it that Ian McKellen signed officially then? Any word about Howard Shore returning? And they used an awful lot of that synopsis for Gollum/the 1 ring. Half of it.

And what's this about PJ's health??? EDIT: Ah, ulcer surgery.

Right? I mean, I wasn't jaded regarding this franchise in the slightest. But still, I didn't expect the raging geek boner I achieved when looking at the Bag End set lit like that. It finally, finally hit me that I'm going back to Middle Earth soon. Oh boy.

Oh yeah. They've already rehearsed. He's in NZ.

God I know. I positively swelled.

I am going to shelve my objection to the two films idea and allow myself to be excited.  Don't let me down Jackson.

yeeeeees we got Ken

For a second, I thought that the Hobbit would have roles for Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener, and Christopher Walken.  Is there not something, somewhere that these three could bring to a Hobbit film? :D

There is a fanboy in all of us Andrew, it just takes a little bit of magic to bring him out ;)

Seriously  I am actually starting to look forward to this.

The three trolls that try to squash and roast Bilbo and company?

Before people start carrying on about who has and who hasn't signed to return yet......

Signed:

- Ian McKellen (Gandalf)

- Andy Serkis (Gollum)

- Cate Blanchett (Galadriel)

- Christopher Lee (Saruman)

- Elijah Wood (Frodo)

In Talks:

- Hugo Weaving (Elrond)

- Ian Holm (Old Bilbo)

- Orlando Bloom (Legolas)

McKellen, Serkis, and Weaving are musts for the story.  Hopefully Hugo gets signed soon and the Cap reshoots don't prevent him from participating.  Blanchett and Saruman will be used for the White Council sequences that have been added.  Bloom, if he signs, would presumably appear alongside his father Thranduil...............the Elven King of Mirkwood.  That just leaves Holm and Wood, who both will probably be seen in bookend sequences.  Bilbo telling his tale perhaps?  John Rhys-Davies was supposedly offered the chance to play Gimli's father, Gloin, but apparently turned it down due to his bad experiences with the prosthetics and makeup while making LOTR.

The rest of the cast so far.....

- Martin Freeman (Bilbo Baggins)

- Richard Armitage (Thorin Oakenshield)

- Graham McTavish (Dwalin)

- Ken Stott (Balin)

- Aidan Turner (Kili)

- Rob Kazinsky (Fili)

- Jed Brophy (Nori)

- Adam Brown (Ori)

- John Callen (Oin)

- Peter Hambleton (Gloin)

- William Kircher (Bifur)

- James Nesbitt (Bofur)

- Stephen Hunter (Bombur)

- Mikaek Persbrandt (Beorn)

- Sylveser McCoy (Radagast the Brown)

- Jeffrey Thomas (Thror)

- Mike Mizrahi (Thrain II)

- Ryan Gage (Drogo Baggins)

David Tennant and Saoirse Ronan are supposedly in talks for roles as well.

I would enlist for a term as Charlie Sheen's coke mule if it would land me a chance to see Walken enact Bard's "Black Arrow" soliloquy, even if it's just as a gag on some late night show.

This is going to be a very long shoot (Variety said 14 months while McKellen himself said 18). So I can't imagine Captain America cock-blocking Weaving outta the production.

It's PJ in a doorway. And yet it's enough to get me giddy. I've been on board with these from the word go, just about, but knowing that it's shooting and seeing Jackson in his element like that, well, it doesn't hurt.
