I smell a Grindhouse quadruple feature marathon coming my way once this hits home video!
I love the fact that, despite bombing, Grindhouse has managed to spawn two spin-off films so far................................with potentially three more (the Machete sequels and Thanksgiving) in the works. Hell, even Rob Zombie has said on more than one occasion that he would love to be able to go shoot enough extra footage to make Werewolf Women of the S.S. into a feature (he already has an hour's worth in the can). At this point, I would love to see them all fully-realized just for the fun of it.
If the Weinstein Company really wants to get a solid DTV franchise going for themselves, they should look no further than Grindhouse. The concept is broad and is supposed to be on the cheap anyway. I say let up-and-coming directors have a shot at making their own crazy low budget exploitation flicks in the genre of their choice and just release them under the Grindhouse banner. Give 'em a decent low budget and let 'em see what kind of insanity they can come up with. I'm sure Quentin and Robert would be more than willing to toss them a few story concepts and executive produce. There are a lot of solid directors slugging it out in the DTV market right now, so they might as well put their creativity to good use.
I would love to see Grindhouse spin-offs from the likes of John Hyams, Ti West, Scott Glosserman, Ben Ramsey, Scott Sanders, Isaac Florentine, Eduardo Sanchez, Scott Mann, Stevan Mena, Roel Reine, etc...........................or even cult vets like Don Coscarelli, Fred Dekker, Mark Goldblatt, Russell Mulcahy, Mark L. Lester, Tom Holland, Albert Pyun, Enzo Castellari, Anthony Hickox, or Tarantino-favorite Brian Trenchard-Smith! Just turn 'em all loose to make whatever crazy action, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, or genre-bending insanity they want to!

Seconded the above post. It's about time SOME studio exploited the direct-to-DVD market for something like that.

Exactly. We need a new generation of badass low-budget exploitation cinema in the old-school Roger Corman tradition! It's the kind of thing that the DTV market is made for but has yet to really capitalize on.
