2011 NCAA College Football Season - Page 2

It will be interesting to see what happens with A&M. It still feels like they need the SEC more than the SEC needs them.

I sure as hell don't want them. And especially if it brings in someone else like Missouri or Virginia Tech.

Heeeyyyyyyyy.........

*secretly prays Mizzou gets invite somewhere GOOD*

Missouri should join the Big Ten.  I enjoy them petering out every season.

Bwah-ha, you bastard. But seriously, I know they'll never be National Championship contenders, just as long as they stay competitive every year.....I can live with that.

Anyone else think that UGA could pull out a REALLY close win over Boise?

Yeah, I agree.  I'm getting the feeling that Boise State isn't all that and a bag of chips this season.*

*See what I did there?  Y'know, cuz Idaho is the potato state and all that. *high fives self*

Out of curiosity, who roots for whom in this thread? I'm a Tennessee Volunteer, and I know that Martianman likes Florida State. I'd like to be able to keep track of whose balls to bust on the off-chance the Vols sneak out an upset.

Also, did anyone hear Bruce Feldman torch ESPN today on the Dan Patrick Show? It was awesome. "I have credibility issues? YOU guys put Craig James on the air!"

Mizzouri Tigers

.....and now I realize I have to dislike The Dark Shape if only for many, many years of heart-ache and frustration.

I'm watching the Kentucky-Western Kentucky game. This is some truly terrible football. The 4th quarters of tonight's NFL preseason games are more scintillating.

I think this year I'm hoping for an undefeated SEC team (Alabama maybe?), an undefeated Oregon, and an undefeated Oklahoma.........just to see how the BCS works it all out in the end.

Heh, good thing Tennessee canceled the North Carolina series, or DJ Dylan and I would be trolling each other twice this year.

Re: Georgia, I think they can definitely beat Boise State, although various prognosticators insist that I don't know what I'm talking about.

It's okay.  You'll be one of the big boys some day, champ. ;)

I kid, I kid.

Tommmorrow's game in Tuscaloosa is going to be very emotional. Really wish I could get back down there for it. Hopefully Trent Richardson can be as good as (or better than) Mark Ingram.

This Baylor/TCU game is ridiculous.

BAYLOR WINS ... BAYLOR WINS ... BAYLOR WINS ... BAYLOR WINS ...

Now, if SMU can beat Texas A&M, this will be the perfect weekend,

That game was NUTS. TCU just plain ran out of gas. Shame it had to end that way, but whatever....Big 12!

I was ready to turn it off early in the third, glad I didn't.

Utah State almost beat Auburn.  Who saw that one coming?

Oklahoma says they will decide if they will leave the Big 12 within three weeks. Missouri is mad that Oklahoma made that comment. Oklahoma State hints they will follow the Sooners wherever they go.

Oh there will be plenty of trolling between us this season. I think Georgia has a good chance of beating Boise. I have a feeling UGA's offensive line will play a big part in this...they're HUGE...and if they can stop Boise's D, Murray could pick them apart.

It's so nice to see Florida just absolutely dominate an opponent again, even if it is Schnellenberger and Florida Atlantic - that is, at least until I posted this.

Watched the Tennessee-Montana game. The score was nice: 42-16. Hopefully, future teams won't notice that our offensive line sucks.

At the very least, can we admit that it's a bad idea to give Boise State a whole offseason to prepare? They were surgical at times.

Ugh. That Georgia game was pretty damn ugly.

So were the unis. I've said this before and I'll say it again - two classes of people that should never be around athletics are architects and fashion designers.

I actually kinda liked the Georgia uniforms

You gotta love the announcers who cry "You'd never see Herschell Walker in that uniform"

Oh yeah. I just felt it was a good change from the norm. I also liked the all-white Boise unis for that same reason.

Missouri is upset cause they shot themselves in the foot with the Big Ten. They tried to make it happen, until the Big Ten found a B.B.D. with Nebraska. Now Missouri is that girl desperately trying to find a date the night before the prom. Very frustrating. And from what I heard, Oklahoma is trying to bring Texas, Ok State, and Texas tech with them to the Pac 12......will be VERY interesting.

Big 12 losing Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Texas, Texas Tech, and A&M will kill that conference.

If it happens, expect the SEC, Big Ten and maybe the ACC to try to expand to 16 as well pretty quick.

Missouri will be one of the teams to try to get into the Big Ten and you know Iowa State would love in too (but is a long shot)

Baylor to try to get on with the ACC and that conference might take K-State and Kansas as well (imagine Kansas being added to the ACC basketball conference. Scary)

I also think if they move to three or four 16 team mega conferences, both BYU and Notre Dame might be willing to make a move to one of them and Boise State will look to move as well (despite this being their first year in the MWC). Its about to get interesting...

This is exactly what is expected to happen. Four 16 team mega-conferences.

So, basically, North, South, East and West, and out of those 64 teams, a version of a playoff is born?

A hilarious rumor is that Texas might go to the ACC.  The ACC commissioner said, "I guess I better read the papers more, because I'm not aware of that."

If there are 4 Mega Conferences, I expect that instead of referees, there will be Judges in each game.

Lol...Texas in the ACC makes no sense.

And, if Stewart Mandel's "apocalypse" theory is correct, the end of the NCAA as it pertains to Division I college football.

The only way I can see it is, if the Big 12 dissolves, obviously Texas wants to go to a conference where they'll still be the big dog.  I don't think the Big East is an option even though TCU is there, and the next (geographically) closest conferences would be ACC or Pac 12, and obviously the ACC is a weaker conference overall than the Pac 12.  Although I believe in the rumor talk of a Pac 16, Texas is a part of that.

These schools do realize if they create these Super Conferences, they're not going to somehow suddenly make a whole lot more money, right?

The SEC has officially accepted Texas A&M into it's ranks, barring any type of legal snafu.  Apparently Baylor (of all teams) has raised a stink eye towards A&M leaving and is threatening to sue to keep Texas A&M in the Big 12.

So I guess they win one big game and now they think they're cool and all...

I think it's more a case of "OMG WE'RE BAYLOR AND WE DESPERATELY NEED THE BIG 12!"

Remember, the only reason Baylor's in the Big 12 to begin with is because the Governor of Texas at the time, Ann Richards, used her "pull" to get her alma mater in the conference.

I've got to believe SMU and Houston are laughing at Baylor right about now

UPDATE:  BYU joining Big 12 pending letter of intent to stay [in the Big 12] signed by Oklahoma.

BYU's independence sure didn't last long.

BYU has apparently NOT been paying attention....
