Since we still only have the one goddamnitsofuckingboring still released from the film, Rise of the Apes is still kind of an unknown quantity as far as blockbuster 2011 releases go. Fox may perhaps being showing confidence in their Ruper Wyatt directed Planet of the Apes prequel though, as the James Franco vehicle has moved … Continue reading

I had honestly forgotten this was opening this year. Fox's doing a helluva job building anticipation.

I hope this is good news.  I suppose, either way, we'll be finding out sooner than we were.

I'm cautiously excited about this film.  There was a big anniversary deal on AMC several years back, right when I was in high school, about the Planet of the Apes franchise, with a documentary on their creation repeating over and over for a while.  Though my appreciation for the individual movies greatly wavers (love the first, don't need the second or third, dig the fourth, blah on the fifth), I consider myself a casual fan.  I'm definitely intrigued by this new film and I'm glad it isn't an attempt to simply remake an existing entry or, god forbid, follow up Burton's film.

They're holding back trailers and stills because they're doing 30 hour days getting the cgi apes right.

Yeah, I had thought moving this to winter was because it was taking forever to finish and because they had bum-rushed Rupert Wyatt into production when ever other director turned them down.

Wonder if this means anything regarding David Gordon Green's "The Sitter," which Fox is essentially supplanting with "Apes"?

The poster's new to me, so there is that.

Is that poster official? I don't have that good of an eye when it comes to these things anymore.

Nope, there's a credit at the bottom for Lloyd Stas, same kid who did the Edgar Wright series so many people shit on inexplicably.
