CHILDHOOD’S END: THE CARE BEARS MOVIE

We must be around the same age.  I can only vaguely remember seeing this movie in the theater.  Only a few elements stuck out.  Like you, I was terrified of the book.  I seem to recall a Strawberry Shortcake short opened the movie.  I could have sworn the Cousins didn't show up until the sequel.  (Which also featured kind of scary supernatural stuff, I think)

It was kind of fun reading through the actual plot of the film, as it brought back a lot of the details that I had forgotten.  That said, better you than me, pal.  I tried watching the Rainbow Brite movie on Netflix with my wife as a nostalgia kick, and we both nearly went into a sugar coma about five minutes in.  Blargh.

I thought the same thing. That's just cause their plotline is so pointless and separate that it seems like a whole different movie.

Hmm, I wonder if you watched the same "Rainbow Brite" movie I did?  Because the only one I remember is "Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer".  The opening song is kind of cheesy but once the "plot" gets rolling it turns into something nearly as crazy as "Rock and Rule".  Tell me you'd ever expect mind-controlling giant mecha, global cooling, and a robot horse driven by a kid in a Power Ranger suit in a Rainbow Brite movie.
