THE MANY FACES OF ELIZABETH TAYLOR (1932-2011)

Elizabeth Taylor was kind of the original Lindsay Lohan, if you think about it.

Nice perspective on a legend that I've somewhat ignored. (Perhaps, honestly, because I was never as captivated by her beauty as I was that of: Ava, Grace, Audrey, Rita, Lauren, Myrna, etc.)  Extremely well-written, as usual.

All good except the Lohad tag line.  Liz had talent.  Lohan had 1 movie she was good in.

Very nice tribute. Watching such movies as LITTLE WOMEN, NATIONAL VELVET, and FATHER OF THE BRIDE with my Mom as a young kid, she was a first movie star crush. So girl next door adorable. And as said with PLACES IN THE SUN,  theres a blossomed, slightly dangerous sexuality, that you can understand poor Monty Clift killing for. I will say, I am a fan of her big 50's epics GIANT and RAINTREE COUNTY, tho I've never bothered with CLEOPATRA (other than as background noise).  VIRGINIA WOLF is indeed brilliant and hilarious. She's an awesome fireball of caustic loathing and meanness. Both she and Burton give perfectly matched dueling performances.

A lesser one from the filmography I dig: THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN with Beatty

I like it. Liz Taylor was more the original Angelina Jolie though. Tabloid fodder. Respected actress. Humanitarian. LGBT Idol. Yep.* First time I ever saw her was in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. I was obviously aware of her before from odd and ends on television and so on, but it was the first time I got a look at the whole package, and I was impressed. She was fantastic. Now everytime I see something of hers from her peak, footage, photograph, whatever, I think to myself "that is what a goddamn movie star looks like".

*Though I'm sure Lohan would absolutely love to know that someone compared her to Taylor.

From child actor to icon: Elizabeth Taylor makes Jennifer Connelly look like Kristy McNichol.

Beaks also had a pretty great eulogy:

That's how I mostly feel like. It may sound corny and trite but maybe Taylor looked a bit too great for her own good.
