ABC/People Magazine's "Greatest Movies of our Time" OR: Who wants an aneurysm?

Co-workers were discussing this broadcast around the proverbial watercooler so I had to look up the results.

I was gonna say how I was confused as to what universe Pulp Fiction is a thriller in, and fuck Avatar being on this list this early, but, otherwise, nothing that angried the blood.

Then I saw Forrest Gump voted as the Greatest Character in Film.

This thing's a real grain o'salter. It's a poll conducted by a network and a publication that Middle America bows down to, so of course these people going to make moronic choices.

Nevertheless, this makes the AFI's worthless, baffling "10th Anniversary" version of their greatest movies list look admirable.

Well, I was most appalled that this was done by ABC NEWS. Their news division! Isn't this supposed to be for their entertainment division instead? Isn't there enough world events for ABC News to spend time working on?

Also, no 2001 in Sci-Fi... and yet, Avatar.

I posted it more as a laugh though. Specifically for Forrest Gump. Obviously this isn't to be taken seriously (that goes for almost every other "definitive" list as well. ESPECIALLY when there's voting involved).

I just fell out of my seat laughing when my coworkers were discussing it as I perused the list giving my comments. And then I saw "GREATEST CHARACTER OF ALL TIME" and thought, "hmmm... who could this be."

Forrest Fucking Gump. Hahahahahaah. It's too perfect, actually. And the list had shown just enough class up to that point for that to actually shock me.

Well, we're never going to get Pulp Fiction properly qualified as a comedy. I mean, that's just the way of the world.

Honestly, while these choices are obviously pretty.. limited, only Forrest Gump gave me a searing pain behind my eye. Am I going to seriously object to Airplane!? No, no I am not.
