Oh yeah, that hit the spot.

His head-to-neck ratio is really bugging me; otherwise, looks fun!

Holy sh*t, did time seem to stop for anyone else when Cap came in blazing? Seriously.

Movie of the muthaf"ckin' summer.

Yeah the shot of Cap busting in and firing his Colt was pretty cool.

There was a big stink over gun-loving Bucky carrying a pistol, so I can hear the fanboys bitching already!

I was kinda moved by the reveal of his new physique.

NO, not THAT way!

The trailer does a great job setting up the before and after.  And this is despite the fact that we've already seen some of that footage.  This trailer just presents it very well.  I especially like that line about "those who appreciate strength and power."

That trailer went a long way to secure my interest in this. Can't wait to see it in glorious Quicktime. Or maybe in the theater this weekend.

I appreciate that the trailer, and obviously the movie, spends some time establishing Steve Rogers before he gets the serum. His patriotism, his guts, his fundamental decency. The dialogue between he and Tucci has been, shall we say, valuable in setting up the character.

The quality is terrible, but that is a great trailer. Man, I hope this movie is great.

I liked it, but skinny Evans looks off.  Like his head is way too big for that body or something.  It's a nitpick, and since he won't be like that for the entire movie, I won't get too hung up on it.

Not an altogether unrealistic look for someone that's malnourished or had a bout with childhood polio, though.

Anyway, the trailer looks awesome.  I'm beginning to have the feeling this movie might really take off. I dunno that it'll be able to shake off the big franchise pics to take #1 of the summer, but it looks like it's got all the elements to be an "Iron Man" level hit, and at the risk of sounding cheesy, I think there might be a lot of people in the moviegoing audience that will go for a "feel good about America" movie right about now.  Wish I could say the same of Thor, but while I'm definitely excited about it, the trailers for Thor don't seem to be doing nearly as good a job of getting people excited over it...particularly if they don't know the character to begin with.

"They will personally escort Adolph Hitler to the gates of hell!"

Yeah,that's a ticket sold.

I feel like Tommy Lee Jones is an original Captain America character.  I refuse to believe his character has a name, or ever had a name beyond Tommy Lee Jones.  Open Captain America #1 and he's in there, exactly as he is today.

Skinny Rogers shots: For people who know what Evans normally looks like, they're always going to look a little weird. But most of those shots look good. A couple are a little off, but Johnston and co. are definitely on the right track.

Skinny Chris Evans looks ridiculous. I can't believe I'm going to reference the 1990 Captain America film for a good idea, but in that film Matt Salinger plays up the character's weakness via a gimpy leg and the super soldier serum effect is all about editing and lighting. Maybe it would look like shit if I saw it today, but I recall it being effective at the time.

Throw a little makeup on Evans, maybe do something with his hair, give him ill-fitting clothes, and light him in an unflattering way or in a way that implies weakness, and you've already saved God knows how much on your FX budget, and it won't look as goofy as putting Chris Evans' head on DJ Qualls' body*.

Trailer is okay, but it all feels kind of weightless and sterile and there wasn't a single shot that grabbed me.

*Or, fuck, if you're so compelled to do it digitally, maybe just don't go so far with the little toothpick body. Black Swan has a handful of shots that subtly and convincingly alter Portman's body type and on a significantly smaller budget, it's not all that hard.

I love the shot in the trailer of Howard Stark lowering his shades to check out Steve Rogers' new body. You just know that's gonna spark some creative fanfic.

now in youtube in glorious HDeeezzz

there's HD on the movie's web-page fyi...  looks fucking great.  Trailers aren't always indicative of quality, but they may have really hit this out of the park.  Everything so far screams quality and class.

That was amazing.....and my prime concern of the villains being "de-nazified" was washed away by that shot of HYDRA troopers going "Heil!; this looks like its going to be one hell of an adventure/action movie.

C'mon, it looks great. I didn't realize they were going to go so tiny with pre-serum Steve but in the scenes he's in, he looks fine. Hopefully they have a few shots that really sell the size difference convincingly, like in FOTR. But at least in this trailer Evans totally sells it. I'm really fucking stoked for this. If not my most anticipated, then in my top 3 easy.

I do get a sense of that 'floaty head' look on Evans that bugged me with CLU in Tron Legacy, but I don't mind it.

There's one shot right before Steve gets juiced in the chamber where it looks really floaty. Hopefully the strength of the storytelling will make that type of stuff irrelevant.

I had no idea Samm Levine was playing Papa Stark.  Huh.

This... delivers. This looks like a Captain America movie. THE Captain America movie. YES.

BADASS!!!  Marvel's releases this year seem to be on track to mimicking the 2008 ones.............................with Cap being the Iron Man-style "out of the park" hit and Thor being the Hulk-style underachiever.  Kudos to Cap if I'm right.  As for Thor?  Like Hulk, he'll still have The Avengers to further his franchise and will likely get at least one more solo round to prove he can make it.

Papa Stark was also involved in the Inglorious Basterds campaign!

My only nitpick with wimpy Steve is I think they should've done something with the pitch of his voice.  Short guys tend to have slightly higher voices, and it's a little weird hearing Chris Evans's regular voice coming out of a tiny little guy like that.

Well...I'm sold.

Isn't it Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark?

Uh, I think the joke is that it sorta looks like it's Samm Levine.

Of course, having to explain it means it's no longer funny.  Ha ha.

Hah, the garbage bin cover is like his little skinny guy shield.

In all seriousness this has got me jazzed, and the recruiting office shot and a few others definetly have that Rocketeer aesthetic.

Thanks, Judd! Updating now.  I will still seethe we had to watch it first on grainy Entertainment Tonight footage.

Storywise, the trailer is excellent. But...does anyone else get the sense that the marketing guys are sort of ashamed of Cap himself? You get that one big shot of him bursting through the door, but otherwise it's like they're trying to hide him, and all the other comic book elements for that matter. I feel like what we're seeing is more ultra-patriotic war movie, when you'd think the genre stuff would do a better job of pulling in the crowds. I mean, I know the Cosmic Cube is in the movie, there's gotta be Nazi robots and other shit too, right?

they are probably trying to keep all the money shots under wraps so people aren't inundated with tons of 'Captain America' shots. I really like where they are going with this and I really think its going to be the break out hit of the summer.

Also, really loved that shot of all the Hydra goons saluting.

Based on the trailer, it looks solid but the only real question mark I have at this point is the script. I wish Spielberg was Directing this because he's be fucking perfect.

This trailer looked incredible all around, but the best money shot for me was of Cap and the Howling Commandos bursting through that door. THe best of all? DUM DUM DUGGIN, itches!!!

Wow, this looks great. Too great, even.

Due to being on a crappy connection I only got to see the low definition trailer but skinny Steve looks fine to me. And buff Steve looks straight out of an SS recruitment poster, as he should.

Even as a Britisher that trailer worked like gangbusters on me.   Which is actually a pretty important point,  the trailer works beyond the American public so if its good it will have no problem selling overseas.

Yeah, I was surprised to see the tinted, hyper-stylized 40s exteriors in the first half of the trailer. Wasn't expecting that.

And with the shot of Rogers' reflection in the recruitment poster, you really get a sense that Marvel is aiming square for a truly iconic Cap flick. Unlike the meh-looking Thor, Marvel ain't playin' around when it comes to Cap.

Yep - sold. I don't mind admitting that looked like a tonne of fun.

In regards to the comic book movies out this summer, for me it's Thor>Green Lantern>X-Men First Class>Captain America. I'll tell you why.

Now, I'm not big on comics. I'm more of a graphic novel man myself. But I have a general knowledge of most comic books and I'm basing my preferences on how the trailers look, not based on whether they tried to shove in as much crap as they could, from decades of comics, into a movie. Nor am I obsessed with stupid shit like "why isn't Wolverine 5'2" and played by Joe Pesci?!?". All I fucking care about is THE FUCKING MOVIE!!! So, I'm basing my opinion on what I've seen in the trailer and who's involved.

Anywho, I'm one of the few people on the planet who seems to love Ang Lee's Hulk and that's because it was visionary. It wasn't your typical comic book movie like The Incredible Hulk, which I did like, but Lee's movie felt like it was trying to transcend comic book films. IMHO Lee should have been the one to adapt Watchmen. I don't know if he could have made it better then Synder's version, but, It would have been interesting to say the least. Kenneth Branagh seems like an oddball choice to Direct, like Lee, and from what I've seen his movie looks suitably epic but I'm hoping that Thor will be as unique as Hulk.

Ryan Reynold's was a real sticking point for me on Green Lantern but the trailer sold me on him and it has a nice cosmic feel with an epic scope. The fact that Martin Campbell (Goldeneye, Casino Royale) is Directing is also a BIG plus.

I really liked what I saw in the X-Men trailer and lament that Mathew Vaughn didn't Direct X-Men 3. The tone of the trailer is what sold me on it. Sure, it looks like there's planty of action but it seems to have some dramatic weight. I also think it's really cool that it's set during the Cuban Missle Crisis. A retro comic book movie? Yes please.

Speaking of retro, I love the art deco look that Captain America has, I think Chris Evan's was perfectly cast and the new trailer has won me over. My only concern is Joe Johnston, who is a solid but uninspired Director, and the quality of the script.

I've seen Joe Johnston take a lot of flack on various sites, but in all honesty he's always done "period" pretty well.  That, and when the two best films on his resume are The Rocketeer and October Sky it's not hard to see why he might be a good fit for Captain America.  Most of the interviews and snippets I've seen with him make it at least sound like he's really engaged and excited about the movie.  Maybe this is the film that Johnston knocks out of the park and puts him on the A-List (Or upper B-List).  Or maybe the material just sells itself and all Marvel needed was a solid director to competently put it together.

Then again, maybe the movie will be crap, but generally when I haven't seen/felt a single "off" beat from the marketing and promotional material yet, it usually bodes pretty well for the finished product.

I can't believe the bitching about skinny Cap. Seriously. Some people here just come off as joyless scolds. That trailer is gonna put butts in seats.

It's like they've never seen DJ Qualls before...

Hell of a trailer.

A question though: I may just be out of the loop, but have they officially nixed the Invaders aspect that was rumored last year?

Captain America looks...Awesome!  Seriously, I cannot wait to see this.  For my money...THOR, will likely be the most, MARVELous superhero film of 2011.  The only gripe, I have is one of my favorite characters is not part of, The Howling Commandos...Sgt. Nick Fury!  Maybe Nick is in the film, but so far there has not been any evidence he is.

I love it!  My favorite shot is definitely Captain America and crew busting through the door with guns blazing.

And, yes, sadly the Invaders are no longer players in the film.  Which makes me sad.  I knew it was a long shot, but I'd have liked to have seen Sub-Mariner show up.

I'm with Duke on this. I absolutely loved the trailer, but having the Howling Commandos without Fury is killing me. WW2 Fury is a great character and he's visibly missing from that line up.

What I loved about it was how the Commandos start behind him but eventually spread out in a "we don't give a fuck" way. And God Almighty McDonough looks perfect as Timothy Aloysius Cadwallader Dugan (I totally knew that was his full name, honest).

Not allowed to even have one single, objective complaint, eh?
