Firefox 4

Anyone else using this? I just updated, and it seems to display sites much quicker than before. There's a couple of little new things to get used to, but definitely an improvement...

I'm noticing that websites, even streaming content, load so quickly that it looks like an in-store demonstration instead of the Internet I know, but that could just be because there's less traffic in the States this time of day.  I'll be curious to see what it looks like in prime time.

It's been my experience so far.

The boards here are unbelievably fast with it, where as I had a bit of a waiting time with the previous version of Firefox.

I sold my soul to Chrome long ago. Firefox can't match the speed of the former. I used FF in its prime but now I find it bloated.
Internet Explorer 9 is really fast too. I played around a few minutes with that and some rendering is really good.

Word is there's a major overhaul for the Chrome UI soon.

Yeah, it is a huge improvement over the previous version. Regretably for Firefox, Chrome exists and still is faster, although not by as much as previously. If, like me, you don't use extensions there's no need to switch. Still, if you're a Firefox user this is an upgrade you should do at once.

I'm considering switching for a few cosmetic issues (against Chrome):

1. I continued to be annoyed by Chrome's weird "close a tab with the middle mouse button" feature

2. Bookmark management in Chrome kind of sucks

3. The minimalistic UI is getting out of hand. Having the menu in that little "wrench" icon is a bit annoying

4. The settings dialog sucks, specially the proxy settings (they reuse the IE dialog which looks clunky).

5. The auto update feature in Chrome just doesn't work for me (might be our firewall)

The problem with Firefox is that I ran an HTML 5 compatibility test and Chrome still scores higher than it.

Still using Chrome, but might be time to try Firefox again (The tabs in firefox are a bit ugly, please make them more curved!)

I use a lot of extensions, especially for Flickr. Probably going to stick with this one, despite my love of just about everything Google.

Yeah, I'm pretty much a Chrome die-hard.  FF just got too slow and too unstable for me.  I may try FF4, but will most likely stay with Chrome.  I will say that I've quit using the site with Chrome because it flakes out on me too much.  I'd hold a separate IE window open with CHUD in it.

I tried out FF4, but after a few days I went back to Chrome.

I had to abandon Firefox after they introduced the plugin container, which for some reason now results in any flash video crashing the entire browser for some reason.

Chrome is mostly fine aside from a few bewildering frustrations. I've no idea why they insist on pushing that 'most visited sites' page on you every time you open an empty tab, instead of letting you set a home page. And little things like the 'find' box automatically closing when you move to a new page still gets annoying. These things would be so easy to fix!

chrome://settings/browser

change your empty new tab here. Second option put "about:blank"

I downloaded Firefox 4 earlier, and for some reason CHUD is loading up really slow for me. The pages load up fine, but when I click on a thread, it takes about 4 minutes to be able to reply. Is this happening to anyone else?

Based on this thread I just downloaded Chrome. Finally my Netflix doesn't freeze up or take like 2 minutes to load up. These boards are alot faster and they don't freeze. Thanks guys.
