Canada Government Toppled After Opposition Pressure - Page 2

I really hate this Harper government. The scandal for the month of April is the real cost of the f-35 jets. Pre-election it was $15 billion and now it turns out that it's $25 billion. However, as we found out, the Harper government would have had to have known what the real cost was even before the election.

Liberal MP Justin Trudeau is going to announce next week that he's throwing his name in the hat for the Liberal Party of Canada leadership race. I think he'd make a great leader for the party and I think he'd do a really good job or re-energizing that stale, old party by connecting with the youth vote and I believe he'd be able to snag (maybe not all) a lot of the senior vote.

This is something that the LPC needs in order to be relevant again. Stephane Dion began the downfall of that party and Michael Ignatieff was responsible for the total collapse during the last federal election. Bob Rae has been doing a good job trying to do damage control as the interim leader but him saying "no" to be in the running for the leadership was a good decision.

Three more years of Harper and Co. ruining our country and then hopefully it'll be an easy win for the NDP or the LPC.

But that's the crux, isn't it? Are either party strong enough on their own to prevent even a minority CPC government?

Unless the Robocall issue really comes to a head against the CPC, I don't see either the LPC or the NDP being strong enough to topple Emperor Harper or Darth Kenney.

Ideally, because the longer the CPC is in power the worse it is for the country, I'd prefer an outright, defined coalition attempt.

Tories quietly table Canada-China investment treaty
Quote:
The Conservative government is poised to adopt a sweeping new investment treaty between Canada and China without a single Parliamentary vote or debate.
Quote:
The final version was signed Sept. 9 in Vladivokstok, Russia, on the sidelines of the 2012 APEC leaders summit.

The treaty promises to set clear investment rules for Canadians in China and Chinese investors in Canada, but questions are already being raised over the treaty’s provisions for resolving disputes.

It allows companies to file claims for financial damages against other firms or against Canadian or Chinese governments for failing to abide by the agreement.

The claims would be resolved by a tribunal, but the hearings would only be open to the public if both sides agree that it is “in the public interest.”
So, very much like NAFTA.

Good thing the Chinese are naive peasants so it should be smooth sailing compared to dealing with the Americans!
