I've kind of come to the conclusion that I don't particularly care for Depp as an actor. I don't know if all of the Burton team-ups have soured me because I can't watch him without thinking of artifice. Hopefully Scorsese can get something good out of him, although if its essentially a cameo I expect the usual Depp wackiness.

Nevermind Depp, I'm happy to see the amazing Michael Stuhlbarg and Emily Mortimer in this. I appreciate what Scorsese was trying to do with Shutter Island, but even his sterling technique couldn't really wake that story up for me, it would be great if this fairly unexpected project from him (though it shouldn't be that unexpected) will be as artistically expansive as I hope.
