"Hey, everyone! Look what I can frame better than most of you."

Cannot wait for this.

ETA: Ooh! The first glimpse of a dinosaur in there as well. Neat. Still curious to hear word about the whole IMAX thing that was talked about a while back with this.

Aah, utterly beautiful. I kinda hope someone does take the trailer and put each scene into a box in some glorious gif type wonder.

There's a dinosaur in that poster!

I'm more excited for this film than anything else released this US summer season.

It's my most anticipated film of the year, hands down.

So, I'm still the only one who is impressed with the framing here (Malick has an eye indeed) but utterly indifferent as far as the story is concerned?  Don't get me wrong, I respect a great deal of Malick's filmography and Badlands is undoubtedly a masterclass in my eyes, but I'm in the group that found The New Word to be ultimately uninspired outside of its visual fascination with the subject matter.  I'm willing to see how Malick incorporates the more cosmic elements that the trailer merely hints at, but the storyline that we've seen so far?  Terribly, terribly film-schooly (the Mother represents the way of Grace!  the Father is tough, demanding of his son!  Sean Penn grows up to be a conflicted adult!).  Even the execution looks hit-and-miss for me thus far.  ;/

First day for me still, but I'm still in the minority that's decidedly not impressed with what's probably going to be overpraised anyway.

You're really judging a lot by a very vague trailer for a film that, if you've ever seen a Malick film (which you clearly have), will be extremely contemplative and rely on space, rhythm and tone to make it's "point." I don't think it's fair to judge the story or how it's presented and handled at this point. It's certainly not as if this is one of those patented current garbage trailers that telegraphs the 1st and 2nd acts for you.

You seem to be working real hard to be an AGAINST-THE-GRAIN ICONOCLAST, Draco.

Yeesh, not another film-schooly movie where the mother represents the way of grace. Blow it out your ass, Malick.

I hope Sean Penn broods in this one...
