DOUBLE FEATURE: ALLIGATOR / Q

Big reptiles in the big city.

Must revisit ALLIGATOR, since I haven't seen that in at least 15 years.

Q, on the other hand, I just watched again about six months ago, and it holds up like hell.  I love that it's like a cross between a cheesy 1950's horror film and a lost, bizarro episode of The Sopranos.  Moriarty is truly legendary here.

Keep meaning to check out Alligator, but I love Q (though the girl I took to see it wasn't impressed; the woman I eventually married, though, loves it). Moriarty's performance really is one of the finest I've seen in any American "genre" film.

This is a great pairing. You're so right about Moriarty, he's awesome here.

Always loved that scene. The alligator/pool image is one of my all time scariest childhood horror memories.

Worm, have you seen God Told Me To? Not as much fun as Q, but a very worthwhile watch with more of those "authentic" city sequences you mention, and if I remember correctly Cohen talks about the street permit (or lack of) thing on the DVD commentary.

GOD TOLD ME TOO is a lot of fun. One of those movies that really doesn't go where you expect it to. I think it is hurt by having a mediocre lead unfortunately.

Yeah, Tony Lo Bianco was definitely no Moriarty (and funnily enough, on that movie was a last minute replacement for none other than Robert Forster). Very good in The Honeymoon Killers though.
